PS2 97060 model?

This may be a dumb question that might have been answered somewhere(I checked and didn't see one though). I noticed in the TRU computers that there is a new item number for PS2 that is supposed to be arriving the end of this month/early next month. The description is PS2 97060 re-designed PS2. The current model is the 70012, so I was wondering if anyone knew the difference. The 97060 is a completely new number and everything in the system. I think most likely it's probably just a box redesign(Microsoft did this a couple times with Xbox, new boxes with new UPC numbers), but I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was. Thanks.

I saw that, too, but it didn't really show anything, but now that I relooked at it, the 97060 is a broadband only model. I think that is really the only difference. So it looks like Sony is finally giving up on all the dial up users and going broadband only, as according to TRU computers the 97060 model will be the only model soon(although the 70012 model is still in good supply in stores and the warehouses). Thanks for posting that link again, I would have never noticed otherwise.

I dunno about the number but yeah, we got a couple BB-only PS2s at work the other day. sony so cra-zy

Hasn't the Japanese slim PS2 always been ethernet-only? There has to be some other difference(s) to justify the model number going up more than 20000.

there has to be? not really, it's sony. maybe the usual consolidation of circuitry but I doubt anything "added." that number probably made better organizational sense since the numbers on the end of the 700xx correspond to the region (0 = japan etc.).

and yes the japanese/euro systems were always bb-only (even the old network adapter) because us laughable americans can't ever catch up!!!
