Sony takes the controller that so many of you love, makes it more comfortable, yet, some of you guys bitch like no tomorrow. i don't get it.

I think the problem is the d-pad and fire buttons are not angled according to how the thumbs are supposed to hit them. Also, when you are playing a fighting game and you have to hit square and circle together, do you usually use your thumb to hit both or do you use two fingers and hold it differently than usual?datruth29 said:I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say..... the shoulder buttons????

ParkPace said:All 4 directions of the d-pad need to be joined together ABOVE the controller face (I hate the sony d-pads, seriously) and the 4 buttons need to stick out of the face more.
Straighten the d-pad and the face buttons out too. That crooked angle that the d-pad and the face buttons are at looks stupid. It's not going to be more comfortable, it's going to be more awkward.
be that as it may, there's a lot of people on this board that would take DS2 over Controller-S and the GameCube controller in a heart beat.AstroLad said:If you read the thread, I think you'll see the majority of people here don't "love" the DS2.
well, it's essentially a SNES controller after all. which hey, was really awesome 10+ years ago. it's still adequate for todays gaming needs but yeah, definitely not a design wonder.AstroLad said:I don't hate it, but it's no design wonder.
If I had to guess, I would say that it looks impossible to hit the circle key AND keep that half of the controller in your hand. It seems like you'd have to hit it with the side of your thumb...and if you did it in a hurry, it seems like you'd be pushing that "handle" sideways out of your hand.Chittagong said:There is one such a fundamental design flaw with the PS3 controller concept that I'm surprised if it will make the final production version. Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Xbox (Duke), and American Saturn disagree.Juice said:People who don't think the Dual Shock 2 and its predecessors aren't complete ergonomic disasters are fucking fanboys. There is no way to explain the non-handle nubs' existence. Most awkward (mainstream) controller in history.
I look forward to trying this one out, but I'm not entirely keen on Sony's take on ergonomics.

And there are quite a few issues with the GameCube's thanks to Nintendo adding a directional pad and Z button after the controller design was finished.
I'd add 3DO, Atari 5200, and Jaguar, but you wrote "mainstream."
No, because he/she sounds like a Sony marketing shill. Why does some random forumite feel the need to take up the defense of Sony's controller design -- especially at this point? Even down to using the official fonts!Wollan said:Cause he must have spent days making it rite?

Need I go into everything that's ergonomically wrong with the Dreamcast controller?datruth29 said:Grant it, every controller has some quirks (although, I loved the Dreamcast controller to tell you the truth), but that still does not take away the fact that the Duel Shock was very uncomfortable on the hands.

because that's the font Sony is using for PS3XMonkey said:More like why is he using that god-awful Spiderman font.
