PS3 Home Official Thread

Welcome to the Internet, stalkers have been on it pretty much since social chats programs and sites started and is not going to end soon, just ignore them.

Sony should put in place an option to report names,so they could actually know which console is doing it and ban it for good.

there is already an option to report names. I've also heard reports of moderators being online.

So where's my Red Bull airplane minigame?

Yea, Home's definitely not being patched as readily as I expected. Starting to get more and more unhappy with the status of Home, which is sad because I was a very strong supporter of it for the first 2-3 days it was out...

I think voice chat should be disabled in all public zones unless you are either playing a game against someone or have consented to hear chat from a person because they're on your friend list. Private spaces could have chat enabled because presumably you can boot anyone you find offensive.

There are too many morons online for it to work any other way.
As it was before the update you could mute anyone you find offensive, or just report them.
If i have to ask if i can talk to someone just to say hi the amount of time i spent in home will dwindle.

It's not an MMO, people shouldn't treat it as though it is until/if it ever manages to be.

Besides isn't the 'beta' over on the 27th?

finally ran into a mod online today...you don't see them but their text pops up in the text screen in color for everyone to see. Told someone to watch the language multiple times...then mod told guy if he had to say something to him again about language he would suspend or mute him.

Not really sure how what I said was related to an MMO comment, but ok.

I don't think it's an MMO at all. I think it's a space where people can go to chat.

HOWEVER, they DID announce that the Red Bull space would be available within the past week. Which did not happen. (Where I'm from Sunday is the first day of the week, not the last)

Point is, I'm getting more nervous about whether Home is going to fulfill promises as their service with Home hasn't been as solid as it could be. I know, it has not been out very long at all. And it looked promising that they were taking feedback to heart, and responding to it as well on their website. But after that first week, I haven't seen another post by either of the two in charge of communicating on that website.

So yes, I'm nervous. Still not sure how the MMO comment got its way in there though lol...

edit: Also, yea, what's this about the 'beta' ending the 27th? If it is, I'll be happy (if that means truly functional game launching, significantly less bugs, etc...)

From a moderator on the official Home forums: (http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...w=by_date_ascending&message.id=484577#M484577)

As PlayStation Home is in a beta environment, it is in a state of constant evolution, and we ask you to always be prepared for changes within the coming days, weeks, months, and years. We think that you’ll find the changes to the service helpful as you continue to utilize this social networking platform to connect with your fellow gamers.

That is why I'm afraid. They imply that this "beta" might not be so short-lived. This wouldn't be a problem, BUT, that promotes attitudes like...: (from the official suggestions topic, on the Home forums-- http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...w=by_date_ascending&message.id=496634#M496634 )

U guy's don't understand. And Sony has never said there not going to include launching home directly through PS3. People who are dissapointed are dumb. It's pointless to trash a beta.

See, the combination of the fact that Sony is accepting this as a beta that may go on for a long time, and people's responses that "It's pointless to trash a beta." combine for Sony having NO pressure whatsoever to provide a good product. So I'm afraid Sony will continue to call it a beta so they get off the hook when things don't work out, or they fall short of expectations.

THAT's what I'm afraid of.

I don't ge tthis...what's to be nervous about? It either work or it doesn't but that doesn't change your ability to use the console for other things... why should you be nervous? Are you financially invested in Home?

Okay, nervous isn't the right word perhaps. Point still remains that I want Home to be a quality service that I'll be able to enjoy. I'm looking forward to game launching, first and foremost, but just seeing it succeed is a good thing.

I'm not nervous in the sense that I have anything that I'll LOSE if Home flops, except Home itself.

And I do use the console for plenty of other things as well. Well, not plenty, just gaming really. But it's always nice to see features live up to their potential, especially when you have spent $300+ on them...(Yea, Home's technically free, but it's not FREE because you do need to spend money on a PS3 to get it, technically...)

there is no magic wand that developers can use to develop software updates on daily basis :D

Haha you don't need to tell me that. I'm a computer engineer so I know all about developing software. But it's a bad thing to miss promised "deadlines" (using that word loosely here) this early in a service that's supposed to be a big hit. Probably would have been better to keep Home back for another week to work out a few more refinements, and still get it out and working a little better for Christmas, in my opinion...

well it's working fine for other ppl. Just don't visit HOME until what you want in it is in...problem solved.

I wouldn't really call it "problem solved" to just sit back and say "it'll be good when it's good". Unless people put at least a little pressure on Sony, they can get by with a subpar system.

I'm really not trying to say Home is garbage, or will be garbage. I know that's how it probably sounds. I'm just hoping they pull things together and keep updating it regularly and don't let it slip too far into the background just because of the "beta" title. That's all I'm trying to say here.

Well I tried creating a thread on how awesome this and was directed towards Second Life. As of which I'm not going to ever bother downloading a software like that on my computer and will probably never bother with Home once I leave from winter break, but I do find this software very entertaining. Definitely recommend this to people who enjoy just fucking around with people online and interacting casually. I've spent little time with games this generation but damn, Home is just fun to hop on for a bit and mess with some of the losers that roam it.:lol

Well i have to agree. I for one think PlayStation HOME is the best thing coming out of this generation of consoles, and I have been a gaming journalist for years. I love it, and nothing can change that. I believe you create your own experience and fun inside this application, so are you boring, then HOME will be boring.

So I noticed without friends online HOME can be a little boring. You have to not be keyboard shy and try to start conversation with ppl to make it fun. You have to use Home for what it is which is a social network. Don't just jump into HOME thinking it's a game or you'll be disappointed. Even though the handful of games that you can our our a little fun. I only enjoy bowling, pool, and Ice Breaker arcade. I see myself using HOME a lot so I plan to sell some of my games and put the money towards HOME purchases. I already spent over $15 on stuff already.

my sister bought the santa claus outfit last night (Mrs. Clause or whatever), i almost slapped the shit outta her for being so fucking dumb. Think it was around £4 for the lot.

Replace Home with Crackdown and we are talking.

When is Game Launching, presumably the entire god damn point of Home in relation to games, going to expand beyond Warhawk?

Why for instance is LBP, Resistance 2 and Motorstorm 2 not supported? Home has quickly lost any momentum with its release, with no new spaces being delivered (lol the Europe Home is a joke), no word on Trophy unlocks and just no word in general on anything that gives the whole thing any point.

Home Team should have been sacked and LBP given the spotlight and funding with Sackboys instead of Creepy McDouchebags.

What do you mean?

It's there and the people that care use it. It's best if they don't promise anything they can't keep. With time it will improve just like XMB.

This.

I want to know. The ONLY thing I cared about was being able to go into the Resistance lounge and finding a party of people with headsets to do coop games.

I can't even express how much I feel Home failed me.

Home team should BE sacked. With all the good talent losing their jobs (Especially EA) these guys put out a complete pile of crap and that's not ok.

with it well populated, Home is more fun than i thought. i may make it a point to grab a game of chess every now and again.

Except it hasn't improved beyond the state it was at months and months ago. Warhawk was supported right back in the first beta, as were the arcade machines and bowling and whatnot. The 'Open Beta' now is barely a step up from where it was a year ago. The lack of progress is staggering. Also the "ITS BETA!!" copout allows them to never discuss when we might expect new stuff to come in at all, if ever.

All of Home is lopsided right now towards the Second Life clone angle. What however is the point in going to Home if no new spaces or content are being uploaded, I can't start or group up with other people to party into other games, nor do any retail releases yield Home rewards. Its just "there".

The lack of Home spaces is puzzling.

We've seen a Resistance area and the Buzz! one and they're nowhere to be found.

They probably don't want to launch everything at once, which makes sense.

Does Sony host all the gamespaces and content ? Or do 3rd parties host their own ? Or is there a choice ?

I still wonder why only Warhawk supports launching, why don't R2 and other 1st party titles launched late this year have it ? Surely they've had that part of the SDK ironed out a long time ago ?

still sux cuz you can only talk to people you already know and i dont want to just start adding everyone i feel like saying hi to, to my friends list. i think its a joke.

um just type "hi"??

Why'd I lose my echochrome outfit after the update? Do I have to pass that shit again?

I think I lost all of the free stuff I had gotten except for the summer home :/

OK ill do that, but why not just turn off the voice chat in your options if you don't like it? why take it away form everyone just cuz some/or even most don't like it?

If they only want us to talk to our friends on our list why have home at all?

The point is it was a griefing system that was too easy. And because most didnt like it they took it away.

I understand that, but in the options you can disable voice chat why didn't they just point out that feature instead of tacking it away?

basically if i meet someone in a real mall and i want to talk to them i shouldn't have to give them my phone number or wright them a letter, i just say hi. home should reflect this.

FINALLY got in.

And uuuhhh....really? THIS is what the Sony fanboys have been going on about for 2 years? Holy fuck.

The ONLY good thing to come out of Home is the ad I saw for the Street Fighter LBP content coming. Can;t wait for that.

Even the bowling is shit.

And you have to download every fucking room you go to?

Sony needs to get their online shit together big time. This thing is a travesty.

I may have to try it out now. I don't want to go in and see dancing, chess and general chit chat. I want to see some virtual humping and comments like "corn rolls":lol

sigh what? Don't give me bullshit responses like that.

You can't honestly tell me, this was worth the money and resources wasted that could have been better spent somewhere else.

Anyone that can honestly defend something as useless as this straight faced has issues.

The fact that it's free is irelevant. It's time and money Sony COULD have spent on getting their online infrastructure right, instead of continuing to give us the smoke and mirrors like Home and Life with Playstation that do nothing more than hide the fact that they have a LONG way to go.
