hol' up

they planning an $80 drop for the LE Battlefront bundle? welp that's the price I preordered at before they raised it to $550 CDN. I'm not getting a deal after all :(

So what's included with the ps4 nowadays? Is there really a reason to buy new if I can find it cheaper used?

Wonder if PS4 will sell more in September or in October in the US...

In term of release, September is better with Metal Gear and the Destiny bundle, but this pricedrop...
Gonna say September will be bigger because 5 weeks, but in weekly sales October should be bigger.

I dunno that you can bet on that given Halo 5 and MS' deep pockets when it comes to offsetting stuff like this, but it'll be cool to watch regardless.

Oh yea, I forgot that MS can allocate any and all funds from every one of its divisions to win NPD! Dem pockets!

No, because this post shows that the exchange rate of currency doesn't matter for some markets.

It's fairly more complicated than just exchange rates, but it's the sticker shock that's bugging some people.

It's also especially annoying cause Sony books profit in JPY. Good for them that they're getting more Yen for each unit sold in the US but I don't see that as a reason to screw us over.

What in the world are you two complaining about? With the conversion rate it is still cheaper than it is in the U.S.? If anybody should be complaining it should be the U.S. customers.

I don't get paid in American fucking dollars. My Canadian dollar pay didn't go up when the currency changed.

I hope we here in Mexico get such a discount, our PS4 average price is 7500 MXN (about 450 USD). Although I still have quite a considerable backlog for the PS3 I bought last May.

I really expected a $100 pricecut after two years, but I guess sales are good enough and a $299 PS4 is still happening on Black Friday.

MS has to do alot more to sell the One than Sony does the Ps4, whether it be dropping the price lower or throwing in a bunch of games. Sony doesn't have to price the Ps4 at $299 to get it to sell more than XB1, heck I'm sure a $399 bundle is still going to do well. The $349 pricepoint is just to have at least one bundle that matches the lowest priced bundle from MS.

I think all things being equal, my hunch is a prospective customer with no particular affinity for one console over another will more than likely pick Ps4, especially if they're informed enough to know about the slightly beefier hardware but more importantly, they'll go where their friends are. And make no mistake, a $349 Star Wars bundle exclusive to Sony with the movie around the corner is going to be HUGE.

As for a BF $299 bundle, I think you'll see some stuff thrown in and the price kept at $349. I expect Bloodborne, the Last of Us, the Order, and PS+ to all be used in varying ways as BF throw-ins.

Should be $250. $350 is way too much, especially considering their exclusives output up to this point.

Let's just make it a cool $200 and throw in Bloodborne and the Uncharted collection.

Really??!!

Maybe I shouldn't have revised my forecast down and just stuck with the original prediction I made in January.

forecast%20PS4II_zpstjsidgfw.jpg
Yep, with the price drop and bundles announced, 36.1 million shipped by 31st December 2015 will very likely happen now. I'm still sticking with my sold through prediction of 35 million. Also, I agree with you that Microsoft won't drop the prices of their bundles, except maybe for Black Friday.

Why should that make a difference? Exchange rates exist for a reason.

Regardless, the Canadian PS4 was initially priced lower than its US counterpart and it now continues to stay lower, so I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make about the change in rates. You've always paid less.

But then the conversion rate will make it even more expensive lol

I usually wait for either Amazon Lightning deals or BB bundles and do a quick conversion in my head to see if it's worth buying after conversion. Usually on BF I saved between $10-30/ game after conversion and added taxes. Consoles are a it pricier so has to include 2-3 games to offset the Canadian price

You forgot that the Mexican price includes 15% of taxes (IVA). Around $1000 go straight to the government, so the price is around 6500 pesos, at 17 pesos per dollar its about 380 us.

I think the official Mexican price will remain the same with retailer deals reaching 6000 pesos like it has been for a while. The peso devaluation will eat the pricecut.

Seriously? If I make $50,000 per year CDN, and you make $50,000 per year USD, you actually make $65,000 CDN, so when my pay does not go up to reflect the lower dollar value, it fucking hurts man, and Canadians do have a right to complain, especially because Sony IGNORES the dollar differential from Euro-USD and Yen-USD. Canada is the only one that gets their prices changed as the dollar fluctuates.

So before making a meaningless chart and calling a nation whiners, do a bit of research.

Funny that I spent $379.99 CAD for a PS4 over a year ago. Sony might actually come out on top for this October's NPD.

Exactly, and lets to pretend that the Gears of War 500GB bundle is not the same price in CAD or USD. The exchange rate does have an impact, but it is largely how much they believe they can charge consumers and get away with it.

This one has the most detailed OP, so I'm posting here. :D

Edit: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. They raised CDN by $30.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Dropped it by $20. It was $449.99 before. Feels good knowing I got mine for $399 before the price hike, and with a game. :D

Fucking Canadian price... we need to bring our dollar value back up.

Dude, what the fuck are you talking about?

Welp, time to go back to PS4. See ya, XB1. We had fun, but fuck it. This was just enough to push me over the line to get another PS4. Dat Uncharted bundle is calling me.

Still too pricey for me given how lackluster I find its current library, but good news for everyone who's champing at the bit to get one this fall.
