PS4 giving WS-37397-9 banned IP Comcast refuses to give me a new IP address. Options?

So here's something interesting, as this happened to me...

I live in Taipei.

This just recently started giving me issues. When I set my internet up with a new company (changed it from a shitty one), they gave me a modem that was really pathetic in terms of build quality and performance. When the guy came to set up my network, I had him create a bridge between the modem and my $150 ASUS dual-band router. Naturally I set my PS4 network up to that with a wired connection.

I got my Pro, everything was fine, until a couple days later I started getting the WS-37397-9 error.

Even when I try to access the PlayStation Store website from my Macbook on a wifi channel from the ASUS router, it errors out. I can't get into Sony related services using the ASUS.

However, when I plugged my PS4 Pro directly into the shitty modem (there's a bridge between the modem and ASUS), I stopped getting an error and everything connected fine. Furthermore, when I access a wifi channel from the modem with my laptop, I can access the PSN store again.

So, WTF?

Hopefully this will rectify itself as it did for OP.

He may own it. Despite how much they try and push people into renting you can buy one off the shelf for like 6 months worth of rental fees. And I think I got 9 years of use on my last one.
True, didn't think of that. Even then, he can just go to a comcast center and talk to someone there. I feel like it's easier than talking on the phone, but it depends on how close one of the centers is to the Op.

Last time I changed my MAC I had to fight with Comcast to even reactivate it on their network. They kept telling me it wasn't supported, which is dumb as fuck. But they are so scripted and untrained I think the dude literally though I must have been trying to swap modems on them because to them MACs are some kind of unchallenged stone tablet that dictates if the modem is one of the handful of one's they've decided to bless with allowing to use the service I pay for.

The modem MAC is usually not able to be changed on regular modems. I don't know how modem/router devices handle it though.

Sound like there's something wrong with the Asus router since it works directly connected to your modem. Try normal router troubleshooting. If that still doesn't work, only option is to try a different router.

I'd suggest going to your ISP physically and asking to swap out your modem for a replacement. Worth a shot to see if it forces a new IP.
