PS4 | Killzone Shadow Fall - Shadow Marshal Tactical Combat Tutorial (new gameplay)

I think it's the encoding. Almost every video released of this game has had some shoddy encoding and since the game never drops below 30 Youtube can't display any issues with it since Youtube is capped at 30.

I hope. Because if it stutters like that, it will be returned. *fingers crossed*

6 days til next gen starts!

And yet in the same list (about CoD Ghosts)

So yeah...CoD Ghosts= Same thing as previous games. But it's brilliant! Buy! Killzone? More like Shitzone amirite?

Ahh, Julian Rignall. I remember when he was a spiky haired 20 year old writing for Zzap!64 way back in the 8-bit era.

Most stupid thing he's ever said: when reviewing Rocky 4 (if that's he one with Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago) th first line of the review was 'This is h kind of US rubbish that gives the Russians a legitimate excuse to lob a couple of SS20s in our direction.'

Clearly things haven't changed.

Jeremy Parish also puts a hold on Battlefield 4. Terrible recommendation. Maybe he doesn't realize the PS4 version is now gameplay equal with the PC version. At least hit should be his job to know this things. His description doesn't even make sense. For maximum flexibility lol. Maximum flexibility of what, having the same maps and 64 player combat as the PC version? Don't get me wrong, I've played a ton of PC BF4, but there isn't anything that separates it from next gen BF4 outside of graphics and control.

That guy shouldnt be talking about fps games. He was a jrpg and nintendo.fan back at 1up.

Gentlemen, what your looking at there is a four sided glass pyramid... it looks weird because it's also highly reflective...

It's not a glitch, it's architecture :)

This makes no sense. The reflections don't match anything.

edit: ooooh, now I get it. And I think the circled bit is part of the tall twisted building reflecting.

This game looks great. I've never played a Killzone before because they always looked too grey but I'm getting this day one. The touchpad owl controls seem interesting too, I hope it feels natural.
I've heard previous Killzone controls were kind of weird though, is that still the case for this iteration?

You really don't know what you missed. C-c-c-c-c-c-c..... If you're COD gamer or whatever, KZ2, especially KZ2 is not for you.

It's a raised plateau. They should have rounded the edges off a bit or deformed the terrain some more.

Nah, given that it's almost a top-down view, such a clean cut doesn't make sense. Some tall buildings appear completely cut off. The pyramid makes sense, you can make out the edges (see my edit). There's even a cloud reflecting on one 2 sides of it.

No reason for anyone not being able to enjoy both. If you're in the mood for some more depth go for Killzone. In the mood for a more simple shooter? Go for COD.

Haven't read the thread so don't know if this has already been posted, but I really like how the Helghast flank the player during the nano-shield demonstration.

At 5:52, when he activates the shield, there's one Helghast right in front of him, and one slightly off to the right. The one to the right fires at the OWL, then runs off to the side for cover. He then moves up the rock above the player and pops up again at 6:03, firing down at him.

Looks very nice. I'll definitely enjoy this when I'll eventually get around getting a PS4. Environments look nice but I hope rest of the levels will offer as great variety as the ones shown so far.

First game I'm playing on my PS4 and I cannot wait! each time I see it my jaw gets closer to the floor.

... No. Look at the right side and notice we are far above the rest of the city. Then look at the top two smaller buildings on the left side of the image and how perspective makes them seemingly hang over the edge.

This looks like a big step up from Killzone 2 / 3, which was just a slog through arena after arena. I'm still extremely skeptical though, and I think I'll wait till it's on sale or PS+ unless impressions are crazy good.

I'll be fine with Black Flag to start with.

Sounds like they did a good job balancing out all the owl powers so they can't be spammed. Can't wait to mess around with them.

Yep.

I wonder why it doesn't look as blurry as Battlefield 4 though.

My guess is that TMAA is doing most of the work and TXAA is just working on distant objects.

The game is in Full HD as well. Battlefield 4 is upscaled and so that'll induce some blur.

Pretty awesome little tutorial video. Has new gameplay and scenes.

Probably already said and it's really such a minor gripe for such a beautiful vista, but I'm noticing some pop-up. At the top of the building at the end of the T-section glass roof, there's two little canvases or whatever that pop in when you get closer.

Edit:

As you're zooming into the roof, you'll notice the canvases pop in.

I dunno if this has been discussed- but I hope most of the campaign takes place in the urban zones. I think they look better than the forest stuff.

All three text blurbs are terrible without taking the recommendation into consideration. I feel bad for the people using this as a purchasing guide.

Parish should be ashamed to have put his name to that BF4 blurb. He has no idea what he's talking about.

This is the first time the consoles have feature parity and player count parity with the PC and he's clueless.

I kind of knew this already but it still hurts to see. FPS should be following the latter, not the former.

They can't. In terms of resources required it's impossible without an extortionate budget and time frame, at least at this sort of fidelity anyway. An island with randomised or replicated trees etc (eg like Speed Tree) is a lot easier to create in a large sandbox environment than a fully breathing, living, sprawling, hyper detailed city with vast distances, populace etc.

The dust in this game is pretty crazy. I first noticed it in the reveal. There seems to be an actual thin layer of dust over everything, not just a white texture. This scene is pretty fantastic overall, great reflections, particles, footprints, and nice DoF and weapon positioning while crouched.

Finally watched this video. The graphics are quite impressive, and the fact that the mission objectives can be completed in any order sounds a lot more open ended than the previous games. Can't wait to play this!

Personally I think this is, it's doing more than Ryse and levels are more wide open. Both are beautiful though and I can't wait to see what they pull off a year from now.

Ryse's problem is animation. I think the overall presentation in KZ: SF is better than Ryse, but certain things in Ryse look better.

Agreed, just as an overall package Killzone looks better to me. I can't wait to play this game though, it's getting to insane hype levels right now, I feel like I am a 10 year old kid on Christmas.

This looks incredible and I don't mean just visually. The gameplay options available here are extremely interesting to me and clearly indicate a very different focus in game design.

Yeah I'm really digging the sci-fi tech, and the pseudo-platforming parts. Gonna enjoy this. I'm glad GG have moved away from the corridor shooter design.
