Well... After playing on the new beast all day, I'm very impressed! Swapped my new HDD in, installed the firmware in a few minutes and got set up.
I had a look around the menus at first and they're very quick to navigate and look great.
I then went on Killzone, it's a beautiful game and plays good too but the non-stop respawning enemies until you hack alarms is a bit poor.
I uploaded a few videos and screenshots to Facebook, the screenshots turned out pretty good but the videos were pretty bad, it looked kinda PS2.5 to me when I watched them back on my laptop and watching them in HD.
The video recording feature is very confusing and I didn't record anything I'd intended to record.
I then went on Resogun and I was kinda meh about it, it looked pretty but I wasn't impressed. I persevered though to record some footage for Facebook and it really surprised me, I actually started really enjoying it as the difficulty increased and it grew to be very addictive, I've been on it the past 5 hours or so! Haha.
I haven't tried Contrast yet.
My FIFA14 and AC4 are coming tomorrow, I can't wait!
First impressions of the control pad weren't great either, it was definitely an improvement over the DS3 but it felt kinda strange too and not as ergonomic as I thought it would be, my impression of that soon changed too!
After a while of playing and getting used to it, it just fell excellent, it was really comfortable and the accuracy and feel of the sticks were awesome.
The buttons are very responsive and the speaker is just unbelievable, the quality of it is very surprising, it's very loud and crystal clear, I had a huge grin on my face every time it came to life!
The triggers and shoulder buttons feel great, can't fault them, I changed the control method on Killzone before I started to R1 to shoot as opposed to shooting with the trigger as that is what I'm used to and is the sensible thing to do as there's less travel with the shoulder buttons than triggers.
I still think it's a tad too small though, after going from the DS3 with the bulky comfort pack on, it seems a bit too small still, but a definite improvement in size over the DS3, hopefully they'll release a comfort pack for it for those of us with yeti hands.
The console itself looks stunning as I'm sure you all know already, my only minor gripe is that it was very noisy when installing the games from disc and downloaded games. Possibly because I put a 7200rpm 1tb HDD in it. It's not as loud as an original 360 but louder than a newer 360 and PS3.
I only hope they give us the option of changing the light strip colour. I wish it was blue all the time.
