PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

I think I picked up the Samsung UN50ku6300 or something. I know it's not the best 4K TV but the game mode is aces.

I am not from the US so I don't know how things work around there, but why would you buy straight from Samsung? Aren't retailers a lot cheaper?

is that essentially just like using MSAA at 1080p?

No. While fragment shaders for the middle of polygons only run at 1080p resolution here, the samples along edges are actually shown as a 2x2 array of potentially distinct pixels using the full 4K resolution, whereas on a 1080p display they're simply averaged to reduce aliasing.

Guys I need to get a new monitor for my ps4 pro. Is this a good monitor.
Asus MG24UQ 4K IPS Monitor?

You're missing out on HDR with that. For me that would be kind of a deal breaker. I mean my TV is still a 1080p non HDR screen and will be for the time being but I wouldn't buy a new display for a PS4 Pro that wasn't HDR compatible.

HDR on PC monitors is more complex. This is a pretty good write up from Rock Paper Shotgun:

There are some pretty alarming reviews when it comes to Game Mode on that TV.

Umm, you might be thinking of a different model number cause every review I've seen has been the exact opposite. Not to mention I've owned one for quite a while and have had zero input lag issues..

$930 if you go to the PS4 4K TV buying thread and get an Employee code. I gave all 5 of mine out but there should be 5 new people with 25 codes now (;

Not sure where you get that from? Those were mostly old/incorrect, firmware updates have allowed HDR + Game Mode. It's not top tier, but its better than average. I think people/early adopters thought they had to chose between game mode or HDR which switched from 20ms to 100+ms and didn't know both could be enabled.
Employee codes? That would happen a week after I buy mine. Just tossed the box in the trash as well. :/

Congrats to everyone getting the KS8000. I have the JS8500 (2015) in a 55", and yeah, believe the hype. A phenomenal family of gaming TVs.

Bring on the Pro, folks.

Same here. Im quite happy with it so far (PC, 4K Blu's)

Out of curiosity I looked at TV prices and the KS8000 is double the price in Canada :/

ok...gonna jump on that man...I will have to jump for that price

Yeah, even more ridiculous is that the EPP code that's getting shared right now has its own cash back program that isn't tied to portals (so I could still use my Discover portal) and the 60" TV netted me $63 bucks in credit that I can use directly at Best Buy on top of $100 cash back through Discover.

Absolutely dirty deal.

My understanding is that the 55" panel is not made by Samsung and that it is just has a Samsung label and frame. I can't remember if correct, or who the MFR. might actually be. I'll try to look it up.

Edit: 60" is by Sharp, still checking on 55"

Didn't Rtings use the 55 inch model during their review though?

55 inch has 3 panel variants, I know the FA01 panel is a sammy panel, as thats the one I have.

Also, this is pretty common for TVs to use panels from other companies, sony uses outsourced panels too, and this has no impact on game mode. It might offer slight variations in light bleed and off angle viewing, but these would be minor. The real picture of the set is determined by the innards.

I completely agree however it has happened that some differences are less than minor, not talking about these sets, just saying in general.

Do we have an official "I'm selling my OG PS4 and need to take out the big hard drive I put in and am unsure how to do it" post?

Just ordered a Samsung UE50KU6000.

Very happy, will upgrade in a year or two to something more flash when I can afford it. But for now I am pleased with the reviews.

Bought my current set in December 2013, so coming up to its third birthday. That's fairly ripe for replacement going by my usual timing :p

The only thing I care about is if the PS4 Pro gets loud or stays quiet?

Is it using a better fabricated APU ? as in smaller chip?

Sold my launch PS4 with 1 controller, vertical stand and 5 games for $340 Canadian on Kijiji.

Then I went to EB Games and did a Trade 5 Games and get $100 towards hardware, which I used for a PS4 Pro pre-order and put down my $340 I got from my private sale.

I have $47.60 Canadian left to pay. Not bad at all!

The console is $499.99 plus tax here FYI.
