PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

I was able to score a PS4 Pro from Target for $367 tax included. I won't feel bad about missing any game or controller bundles now.

Lucky. I may try target. I went to 3 local Walmart and only 1 had the price sku out on the display. Unfortunately, there was a young man to assist me so he was a bit knowledgeable about what was going on.

I may try the Walmart near my job. That's way out in the country lol.

I'm really hoping Gamestop or somewhere puts up a trade-in special that will net me more than the $150 they're offering for PS4s now.

I hate hate hate selling things privately, so I'm willing to take a hit with trade-in, but I'm hoping for at least $180.

Still, if there aren't any deals posted this coming week, going to just bite the bullet and trade in my launch PS4.

Walmart is your friend with $178.88

You guys are tempting me to trade in my OG PS4. I wasn't even slightly considering it before.

So, I am totally getting a pro, but I am kind of wondering what steps I should take to make the process of actually booting it up and playing faster. I know I could back up my saves with a usb drive but I am actually wondering more about keeping my 2TB drive from my OG PS4 and putting in the pro. That's possible right? I feel like it would be kind of stupidly more complicated than it should be.

My hard drive will be formatted if I put it in a new PS4, so should I just start by doing that right off the bat?

So close now and it feels almost like a new console launch. Any leaks regarding loudness/silence from Ps4 Pros fan compared to previous models and if the wireless network is as weak as before? Coming from a launch ps4 these are two areas Sony's got to fix. They do this I'll be a happy customer once again and almost forgive them for the lack of an UHD-player.

If the majority of your gaming is on PC and you are looking to complement it with a PS4 for upcoming exclusives would you go slim or pro? We are nearly at Black Friday which there are bound to be crazy deals on the slim but I'm guessing this will not be the case for the pro as it is a new device. What to do GAF?

If it's a choice between the PS4 Slim or Pro, I'll always go Pro for the extra $100 w/out a question. A much better box/value than the slim imo for $100 more.

If you're trying to move games from the PS4 to the Pro, and you're selling one to get the other, you'll need an external drive for the in-between. If you're buying a Pro first and then getting rid of the OG afterwards, you can system transfer between them over the network.

You can't just drop the old drive into the new one and start playing.

So for me, I have a 2 TB in my OG right now. I don't have an external drive handy, so I'll be taking the 2 TB out before selling the OG and putting the original 500 GB back in. I'll then format that and get it ready for sale. When I get the Pro, I'll take the 1 TB out and put the 2 TB in, format it, then redownload my games.

Honestly given the price difference I would just invest a little more and get the Pro. I mean even if it's just for exclusives why not play them on a console where you can play the game in its full glory?

Saying that I have no idea how cheap the Slim will go at BF, if it's far cheaper than the Pro then that's not a bad option.

If I only care about transferring some save files, should I just format and sell my ps4 now instead of doing system transfer?

I assume everything is automatically backed up to the cloud like Xbox Live and I just have to sign in to my PSN on the Pro?

PSA: To any canadians looking to off load OG PS4s, EB games is offering $210 in store credit when you trade it toward a PS4 Pro. It's also tax free so that credit get's subtracted before tax calculation of the Pro, which actually makes it even cheaper.

Check your uploads to make sure, but yes, you can just deactivate and format now before selling it.

Only if you have PS+, otherwise you'll want to backup your saves to a USB drive before formatting.

Well I assume you have a PC for the high quality graphics so $100 more to nearly match it is worth it.

the slim already has improved wifi compared to launch unit and apparently the pro is quiet from the few people we have heard from

What condition, etc.?

My rubber on the controller is kind of peeling off.

I'd do it but I want to buy the console with my Discover Card on Amazon.com for the 5% cash back bonus. Then, I'll trade in the system with an extra controller for $204 credit which I can use for games with 20% prime discount. Otherwise, it is an awesome deal!!

It's better than new console launch since big library of games is already here :D

Seriously I am not looking forward to this aspect of upgrading.

Well my work Walmart doesn't have the sku sticker out so I guess my only chance is to go around midnight at my local. Otherwise, I'll probably just wait to get it with FFXV

any rumors of BF deals or pack-ins? i'm going to buy one but i don't necessarily need it at launch if there is going to be a better deal a couple weeks down the line

Shame we are not seeing too many screenshots right now :(

My pro is hopefully not going to get screwed up by Amazon, they've been a bit rubbish in my area over the last couple of months.

Now just enough time to redecorate and rearrange my home office, well i hope I have enough time, its only taken me 4-6 weeks so far to tidy it up :(

That's what I'm thinking also. There will be PS4 console deals for sure, but whether it will be for the Pro is a different story.

Okay, thanks for the info. I am in the same exact scenario as you, except I don't think I am going to sell my OG PS4.

So 289$ + tax for a Pro after trade in... Hmm I'm still on the fence since I use a 1080p monitor and don't intend to upgrade to 4K anytime soon. I just wanna see the difference in FFXV dammit.

I got $260 USD for my launch PS4 with 1 controller and the vertical stand.

Don't give in to these shitty deals from GameStop and such. Sell privately, mine sold in 2 hours and it was painless.

Honestly the only long part is backing it up and clearing it and you'll have to do that no matter if you sell privately or trade.

I'm guessing nothing or minimal deals- depending on how many Sony can produce if they aren't flooding market with Pro they will be able to sell all of them anyway and for price conscious people there will be slim and fire sale of remaining original units.

Plus whoever buys slim might be a consumer for Pro next year :D

Where did you sell? I have the glacier white Destiny bundle and was thinking about sellling it for Pro.

That Walmart exchange is odd. I was checking on my Daughter's original Xbox One and it offered $94 for the 500gb model, out of curiosity I checked the 1tb model and it only offered $77.

Why would it be less for a bigger hard drive??

Went ahead and ordered through target. Signed up for red card but wasn't able to use it but whatever. I'm too impatient. Lol

Impulse buying kills.

Just sold my ps4 for $175 and a bunch of old games for $70. I think it's fair price considering it was a pawn shop. I am only paying $155 for a great upgrade! Amazon says it will ship in the 8th which is great.

I hope Target doesn't sell out online. That's my backup plan if Target doesn't allow in store pickup on launch day. I'm trying to maximize the savings since I believe it's cheaper online than in store if you're using gift cards.
