Where is this info coming from?Dunno about that, but I think we will get a lot more information coming next week. The invite also mentioned Ratchet and clank, Gran turismo and Ni-oh (IIRC)

1.3tflops..........£1500. I'm still in shock,
Between this and the tag, I don't know what to believe in GAF anymore. Everyone is either crazy or super sarcastic. Which is it?!

Any USB drive will work.
Oh my my, this is just lovely! Ratchet already looks godlike on PS4, I can't even imagine how it'll look on Pro if Insomniac decides to patch support. Nioh is my main jam though, I'm super excited for any Pro support/news on that baby. I'm kinda hyped now a bit for next week LOL.Dunno about that, but I think we will get a lot more information coming next week. I don't get caught up in the spec wars, but it's going to run patched content better than the current PS4/Slim, and a good chunk of the purchase price will be made up for by eBaying my outgoing PS4. Personally, it would annoy me knowing there was a more powerful PS4 out there that ran things in higher resolution and better framerates for $100 less than a PSVR bundle w/o any games and a relatively minor $100 premium over an XB1S. Pretty sure I paid $400 for my original PS4 too, so paying the same doesn't bother me. I'm sure I'll get a Scorpio too, but that's a year+ off, so tbh, I don't care about that at all atm.I'm curious what high-end PC users have for say about the Pro vs. Scorpio power debate.
TBH I didn't even know teraflop was a word until this summer, but as I have a 4K HDR set, I'm wondering if 4.2 TFs really isn't enough for 4K gaming as P Spencer says.
Is 6 teraflops really the sweet spot or will 4.2 be ok?
Does anyone have an idea if pro will be better for 4k users than 1080p ones yet?
Like if you have a 4k its a must, if you dont its marginal upgrade or vice versa.
Thats the aspect im most curious about,
I have the Pro preordered but if I told you truthfully why it's because I've recently gotten a big pay rise and literally did it on impulse whilst walking through the mall on pay day.
I can't tell you what I expect to gain from the Pro as a 1080p TV owner, which the vast majority of PS4 owners are and probably the majority of Pro owners will be, because I really don't know.
I know what it can do, I know that a 4+ teraflop console could produce significant IQ improvements and performance boosts in all games over the base PS4, I know that for the price of the Pro the IQ and performance boosts that are possible are easily worth it...
But whether I am actually going to get those boosts I have no idea. I don't know which games are going to give me what bar Tomb Raider, a game I have no interest in.
If I was a 4K TV owner then the answer to these questions would be fairly straight forward: in most games going forward and some going back, I'll have a much more appropriate output for my TV.
So do Sony care about 1080p Pro users? If they don't, they need to say this is not for you and you should not have any expectations. If they do, as they should considering the market and my genuine prediction that >50% of people buying a Pro will not have 4K TVs, then they need to get serious and give us some bloody details. You sold it to me already because I'm an idiot, sell it to everyone else, make us NEED a PS4 Pro regardless of what TV we own because with the hardware in that box you CAN do that.
There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that doubling the power of a god damn console will give them significantly better graphical experiences. The fact it is even a question for 1080p users is imo failure I am actually impressed Sony have even managed to make, I didn't think it would be possible.
To be fair, there were like a dozen different One S bundles.
Things can't be too bad because the PS4 Pro has already sold more for the year on Amazon than The Xbox One S highest selling model & it haven't even released yet.

At launch, there was never any other outcome. Even Wii U sold really well during launch as did the X1 @ $500, we'll see how well it's been received from Jan/Feb onwards. But I think this one was the only one that you could get at launch so the fact that PS4 Pro has already out sold it should tell you that things are not as bad as people make it out to be.

But we are talking about right now & right now as this thread goes on about the bad PR it is already moving pass the Xbox One S on Amazon. So the PR can't be too bad if the One S is doing well & the Pro is doing better on Amazon before it's even released & the people who work at retail on Neogaf have been telling people that it's doing really good in other stores too.
You don't have to test games thoroughly for something like this. If they are coded in such a way to be so inflexible that a CPU upclock would ruin them, that would be visible within moments of starting the game, or the first time it needs to load and decompress something, or stream something in. We're not talking visiting every nook and cranny of every level to see if the character is going to fall through the ground, or testing some weird and time consuming edge cases. We're talking scenario that if the game is working perfectly for 10 minutes of playing it normally, there's 99.9% confidence that it will continue to play normally through the end. And if it glitches, it will be painfully obvious within minutes of starting it, and then you just discard it without paying any further attention. And you need to do this for a few dozen games, if that.So again, you have no idea what's involved with thoroughly checking to see if a game is "glitchy".
Yeah, I can add to that. Was at a local EB Games today and asked them if the pre-orders were moving. They said they were selling very strongly. It seems pretty universal. This console is wanted.

I'd like to agree with you, and I also concur there shouldn't be this much confusion. I upgrade my GPU every other year to get the best graphics. Really glad I can do the same on console now. Not sure why some people seem to have difficulty understanding that the Pro will entail better graphics across the board. Games will support it going forward, and exploit it even more for releases further down the line. When a new nvidia gpu is released the only marketing is that it's x times more powerful than the previous generation, no one says I need screen shots because I dont know how this gpu is going to make my games look better.
Posters on gaf claiming they are confused are just being willfully ignorant. Even "normal" people can figure out what a 2x more powerful PS can do which is why it's selling so well.
Yea it's not stellar.
But I expect it to pick up soon.
I've got mine preordered anyway.
You get a similar upgrade on 1080p. Downscaling is VERY good. You might not get HDR.
It's still a good upgrade for 1080p. It's just even better for 4K and HDR though.
Downscaling is very good at 1080p on PC. Very awesome.
But all of this only applies for future games, or patched games already released. Not all past games will be patched, but all/most games coming out after PS4 Pro will have Pro modes.
One thing that is probably going to annoy me with the Pro, and it is one of the main reasons I avoid PC gaming, is choosing between better graphics in 1080p mode or less complex graphics at higher resolution in 4k mode. I know that sounds really silly, but I am a tweaker and I spend more time in a PC games settings than I do actually playing the game. I totally see myself doing it with the Pro, jumping between 1080p and 4k and deciding what I like more, and then do it a few more times for good measure. I'm just a really indecisive person, it sucks.
PR seemed pretty straightforward.
There will be even more info as we get closer to launch.
The anxiety voiced by some folks in this thread, among others, is unwarranted.
I don't think people understand that these consoles are probably going to sell as fast as Sony can produce them for the next 2 months & right now all they have to worry about is getting them out to stores.
I called my local wal-mart earlier today and they said the system is in high demand and they recommended me to camp out because they have been getting an influx of calls about people wondering the "stock" of pro units. wtf
So, anyone knows if there's a way to keep P.T. if I ever buy one of these things, or should I keep this PS4 forever now.

the new data transfer method (via ethernet cable) should work. though i cant confirm this.
After a few days of this thread i'm detecting a collective yearning for sony to introduce some talking points into the social marketing mix. To combat something. Why else would the op call for better pr? For better propaganda? The actual information is readily available so it can't be that. Some of you just want internet ammo more than real information.
PR or fud campaigns will have a limited effect on the result. The sales will probably be so strong that we will never be able to measure the effect of this so called terrible pr.

Definitely a bunch of people waiting for PR so they can trot out the usual lines 'fuck you Sony' ,'Sony dun goofed', 'I'm buying a PC', 'PR faux lol' and how they're failing since PS4 launch.
I can't imagine any other reason (bar war) why people want MORE PR, I'd prefer less.
