Nothing to do with that. Since Sony have basically nothing announced for PS4 in regard to used games and DRM there is nothing for them to u-turn on. They can come out on 6/10/13 and say "we've listened to gamers around the world, and ensured that there are no restrictions placed on used games for PS4 and there is no mandatory online check-in" while MS would have some serious back peddling to do. It's much easier for Sony to make this happen than MS.
Also, Sony are much less remote than MS in the last few years. They seem to engage with consumers and fans much more than MS, I think that is because of Yoshida and Andrew House. Without Allard, Xbox is just another faceless MS division and it shows, consumer interaction is minimal.
