I'm up and out of bed, this is going crazy! Eurogaf, you guys took this shit to the next level. Like 19 next levels.

I'm going to eat some oatmeal and update the OP with the 9000 things that happened since I went to bed 4 hours ago. Should take 30 minutes or so.

Gofreak's blog post about the entire situation should be required reading. We should print it out and go to sony and hand it out like a pamphlet. It will be in the OP as well.

Man, I hated jim sterling so much when he gave Socom 4 a 3/10. That game was EASILY a 4/10! Easily! I could kiss the man right now.

I think this would be as big or even bigger than Operation Rainfall.

Bigger most likely, OpRainFall was a group of people wanting some niche games.

This will effect a FAR greater amount of people. People who want to buy used, people who want to lend games to their friends/Family, people who sell games to buy new ones.

This effects too many people so it will be bigger than OpRainFall I imagine. Just gotta get the word out and make sure people realize why this is important. Even if it's just because they won't be able to let their friend or family member BORROW a game. (I have to think that is a sticking point for some people at least)

Woot!

OP really needs to updated.

On another note. Looking at google the amount of articles coming out of Europe on this is awesome!

To those saying that Sony is in a catch 22 or might lose 3rd party support. Get real. If PS4 comes out and sells gangbusters because of all the negative pub that MS is getting 3rd party devs will swallow it. They aren't going to cut out a large chunk of their revenue out of 'principal' they make games for profit.

Even if it's only a 1 time profit from releasing on a potential DRM free PS4.

We hold our consumer rights pretty dearly around these parts. I wish American consumers thought the same!

Also can I suggest again, any articles on this (Polygon, Destructoid, Kotaku) be put into the op under a "Coverage" section and maybe links to the people at Sony who have commented (perhaps under a "Comments from Sony personel" section? Or something like that.)

Just for people that only read the Op and still think, no one is listening to a few 'angry gamers' lol.

So cool :) Having these SCE people at least acknowledge this is a good thing. It means they know what we want. Whether anything will come of it or not is another matter, but i think it's great to see gamers work together for the greater good.

Reminds me of the Kevin Butler speach from E3. No matter what we are a fan of, we all serve one king: Gaming :)

Yeah thats exactly my plan, im going to keep the top part of the post untouched because I don't want to change any details mid-stream... but the info dump at the bottom is going to get organized and I will be adding a ton to it with everyone who has reported or responded.

Referring to the fans as simply "passionate" instead of addressing what they're being passionate about is the disconnect here.

They wont address it until E3, AFTER MS' conference.

Yeah, if anything it DOES mean they heard us, now it's all about if they will listen to us :)

Great, :) this should help anyone who is only just finding out about this (assuming they read more than just the thread title of course :P )

I am getting a PS4, but my concern about this DRM is that 3rd party publishers will go to MS is they do not allow used games. That's what I am afraid of.

If MSFT sticks with it then you may be surprised to see that many of us won't be even looking at it so as long as people vote with their wallets then that's all we can hope for.

Because it's not up to these guys to address it. The policy will come from Yoshida, House and possibly even Kaz. What we are seeing is that Sony's rank and file are on our side and even higher ups like Koller.

Timed exclusivity makes more sense for jilted third-party partners in this case than complete abstinence from the platform. Let games hit XBO exclusively for a few weeks before the PS4 version hits. Given software sales trends and the importance of the early part of the cycle, it's potentially just as punitive to Sony while not completely denying support to the platform.

Problem there, as pointed out, is that Sony could just say, "We don't need you," and revoke/pull licensing. Then we see who blinks the hardest.

Timed DLC exclusivity could be a lesser strategy as well.

They aren't going to address the situation directly yet as those responding probably don't have a say in the matter, and for fear of MS-like cognitive dissonance. At best, we know that our pleas are not falling on deaf ears.

Whats better?

- Press statement now that there won't be DRM on PS4
- Opening the Sony E3 Conference with "We listen to Gamers. No (draconian) DRM on PS4. No internet connection required."

Publishers would be waving goodbye to over 40% of their revenue if Sony pulled PS3 publishing licences.

This idea that publishers will stay away from PS4 if Sony dump the DRM is ridiculous.

It's more likely that MS will get DLC sweeties for a while and maybe some advertising exposure as a bonus.

Former. In an ideal world, they get this out of the way before the conference.

I'm not expecting an answer one way or another. Just an acknowledgement of what's being discussed.
