This part I just don't understand, to be honest. This is exactly how things like this works on Twitter. A small community tries to get others involved to highlight an issue to make it mainstream. In what way is that a riot? I've worked with social media management for international companies, as well as on campaigns that try to make issues public through the use of social media, and there is nothing wrong or weird or "riot" about this. You're just wrong.

I'm saying the currently angry gamers represent a small percentage of all software/hardware sales in the lifetime of the console. That they buy more games changes nothing to that.
And that isn't even considering most angry gamers right now will still buy the PS4 regardless.

So basically you're saying:
1. Don't talk about this, they already know about it, and since we don't know about Sonys vision we should shut up about it until they tell us what it is like nice little sheep.
2. Don't annoy public company people with our opinions, it doesn't matter that their Twitter accounts is essentially part of their marketing - because it's disrespectful?
3. We're just angry gamers that noone really cares about anyway.

Come on.
 
If the PS4 doesnt require an online connection (from what we know, it doesnt), doesn't it mean used games are allowed?

Or do we want even less restrictions that they may implement? (what would those be?)
 
I'll join Twitter tomorrow and help out, but now I need some sleep first.

Wow, this certainly has blown up a bit overnight.

Good thing too, hopefully some of the higher up people at Sony like Yoshida have started to take notice (besides Scott Rohde last night).

I don't see how a console can tell if a game is used or not without connecting to the internet
 
We need to get more more then just Gaf to participate. Spread the word. Make a similar topic on Reddit and more importantly Facebook. Twitter is nice and all, but we need more people participating, we need a very big voice. Literally thousands of voices and complaints.

And this is the good part, right now. This social media buzz is not overly negative. It is in fact saying a lot of nice things about Sony and Playstation.

What it is doing is it's making this whole issue very public and Sony can still come out as winners - with a whole lot of free marketing - if they just do what we want. :)
 
Good stuff, Shahid! Keep doing your part people, even if they've already chosen not to go this route or vice-versa.

hello sony,
we are gamers. we are what this is all about. we love your company above all.
please ignore all deals you already made with publishers and all your plans for the future of the ps4. dont go drm style. because gaming is just about us. we are gamers. we flip every coin before we spent it. we resell games so these evil publishers that wont give you exlusives dont get too much money. so please take care of us. please dont listen to your apple consuming money spending mindless consumers. listen to us. we are gamers. we wont pay for any services you offer, but we will talk nice about you in internet forums and to our non existing real life friends. we will boycot you and kill your relatives if you dont listen to us. we are gamers. we love you so hard. M$ is just about $$$ and nintendo is so stupid, they dont even have ea games. give us used games, plz.

It's really good, the focus is really on the one thing - tweet this message. Don't confuse it by adding more messages or buttons at the top. You could even remove one of the messages above the button by joining "If you want used games..." with "Tweet it to PlayStation:" into one sentence.

At the end I would add all other sharing functions you want, after the end of the letter. Facebook like button for the page itself, reddit.. hacker news? What ever you can think of.

Honestly how do people keep saying this? Haven't there been enough incidences where the backlash on the internet over a gaming fuckup either proved to help bring about change or mirrored those concerns of the casual user? How many times do we have to see someone save face before people start accepting that, at this day and age, the internet is a lot more relevant in getting across a message and is a lot more closer to reality than a lot would like to believe.

People are the best Sony PR. They probably can't believe all the extra PR they are getting for people in sites like gaf. People forget that they are a corporation, not our friends :/, they want your money, they don't necessarily want to do the rigth thing. Remembers me of MS and the 360, they got gamers help to defend issues as the RROD or the xbox live fee.

Yeah, thanks for the advice, I might do that.

With facebook, it's just a plain like button, right? There's no concept of hashtags or a mechanism to direct attention to - say - Playstation, or whatever? Just want to make sure I do that one correctly.

If they figure out that the goodwill of no-DRM will propel their brand and get them more money... "I'm okay with this".
