PS5 price to rise in Europe, Australia and New Zealand

Because I think it's interesting to see how companies deal with the tariffs.
I'm not questioning whether you think it's interesting or not I'm just not seeing the relevance to this thread specifically that you decided to post it here. Especially when this older hike wasn't said to be tariff related. when you could just create a thread to discuss this theory of yours applying to "global brands" and how you believe Sony, Nintendo and MS are employing this strategy with price hikes, why this thread? Wouldn't be limited to Australia either would it unless you think those global brands have it out for them in particular.

I'm more questioning why you bumped some random old thread on a whim to discuss your topic. Especially as you know full well it applies to more recent threads you've been actively discussing hikes in, no? It's not like you missed the shocking price bumps of all xbox consoles, accessories and games globally this month so you know your theory would apply generally there too. As GHG showed people including yourself were more recently discussing tarrifs being spread to other countries in that thread:
If it had been due to tariffs and it only went up the the USA I would understand. I do not understand a price jump this big around the rest of the world.

The rest of the world has to pay so the US market don't feel the full force of the tariffs and make the price too high for that one market. Spread the pain.

Then you have your TLDR summary of the bumped article in this thread saying almost the exact same thing:

Companies will spread the pain (cost of US tariffs) across multiple countries.

Why didn't you just bump that more recent pertinent post of your own and say I told you so. surely that would have been more fresh on your mind being more recent and you. Better yet why didn't you alternatively create a thread and say you believe MS and Sony have hiked prices globally to fight tariffs like this article mentions for jewellery and shoes. No need to muddle things by trying to make a false connection between what was done in April, said in May, Australia or whatever. You clearly know it was general by company, by country according to your TLDR. The thread chosen to bump seems without rhyme or reason.

Seeing as you think this is all some conspiracy I've made up, here's a few other outlets at the time of the price rise news who connected the tariffs as well for your reading:

From the article:

"The company pointed to high inflation and "fluctuating exchange rates" in a blog post explaining its decision."

So they gave you an explanation but you don't believe that and you're inserting your own theory instead? Who's the conspiracy theorist again? Nobody is saying you're the only one to come up with this idea just that you'd be wrong because there wasn't a correlation and discussions of hikes happening due to tarrifs happened in May after these very limited unrelated ones had already happened. Tarrifs would apply to all the hardware too. I believe they were mainly trying to correct the low margin digital versions for market conditions such as inflation and exchange rates outside of tarrifs. It wouldn't even make sense financially. Those hikes would not pay for the massive tarrifs in the US. In the US sales are high, there are tariffs on ALL hardware, higher than the price increase on a very limited set of console sales.

It was an article that reminded me of a similar discussion in this thread about price increases in Australia. I searched 'price increase Australia' and posted. That's it. No ulterior motive, no diabolical plan to make your beloved Sony look like the bad guy ... just a comment about companies spreading tariff pain around much like Sony has.

let it go GIF

The only reason I sense an ulterior motive from you in the first place with this bump is because you're usually upset about people talking bad about xbox so spare me the hypocrisy with the "talking bad about blah blah" bullshit. You can talk bad about whoever you like, doesn't mean I'm going to agree with your conclusions. Instead of addressing anything I said this is what you usually fall back on.

You'd think with how I 'usually' get upset by it you could find a post a bit more recent than 2023. Fucking lol!

Is that why you didn't add the quote? Just the link so people wouldn't see the date? haha

Oh sure why not:
I feel the same way. I own both ps and Xbox so doesn't bother me which exclusive goes where but the constant and relentless console warring from pro PS people on this forum is so tiring. Any Xbox related thread just instantly devolves into a solid stream of anti Phil / MS diarrhoea from the same people
Not upset enough?

Thanks Three. Try not to get so upset about posts about Sony price hikes in future

It's Ok my ginger sweatheart it doesn't bother me otherwise I would have pointed it out like you do. Next time can you point out the exact post where you think I'm being a big meany to your beloved Phil in that thread because it's clear you're saying I was personally part of the group that upset you. Deal?

Ta

Yeah, sure doesn't bother you. Just felt the need to cry about it for about 2 pages lol

All 3 companies are doing the same, MS went with increasing the price of consoles and games. Sony increasing price of digital consoles in Europe and disc/digital in Australia.

Nintendo went and increase the price of games, RRP for Switch games used to be $69-79.

Now they are $100-120

Yes, lots of companies seem to be doing it. Makes sense, although it does suck dick

Depends if I feel like ruining your day ;)
I know that your xbox/Phil loving mind gets off on that so you're looking forward to the day people get screwed but I'll be laughing at your contradictory theory again. it'll make my day you waxing lyrical about how you think they corrected for the same thing twice.

Was just a joke, take it easy

I hope the rest of the world doesn't suffer with computer hardware because of how fucking dumb the US leadership is.

That would suck, and would have a negative impact on the view of the US.

It also sucks that Sony has raised rhe forces worldwide but not the US. I dont get it.

Saying that they are currently running a massive sale in the UK like they've done every year, so maybe everything is fine. Haha

I clicked this expecting some huge rant and it was literally one sentence and it was like 18 months ago.....

Talk about scraping the barrel.

The sentence was harmless too.

At least Microsoft had the balls to raise the prices in the country responsible for tarrifs.

I think this news story should be a new thread in which we discuss the honest approach, Microsoft, and the way of the demon, Sony.

Bumping this thread with a very generic news article, which has no relation to the thread title or Sony, doesn't seem right.

Who said it was a wordy rant though other than your own unknown reason for expecting a wordy one? It was exactly what I said it was and that he did it more than once. Nobody said it was wordy. That's the dumbest strawman I've ever seen.

I've never seen so much desire for a company to raise prices and be able to say "sonytoo." :pie_diana:

"too"? They already raised prices before MS, you can read about it in OP.

For some reasons USA was spared this time but most of the world has to pay more for PS5.
