8K Bloodborne here we go.

Intrigued by this. As O onQ123 suggests, there seemingly has to be a little more to this than simply upscaling (forever thought of as smally-make-biggy-magic from this point forwards) as that's really not likely to have the potential to glitch out. Just taking a completed frame and performing a fixed function on it before it's displayed doesn't seem to hold any potential of being problematic... but if it's incorporating some secondary ML model that adds extra spice, that could be way more interesting.

Please explain how upscaling could cause glitches in some games & need a off & on toggle?
It's says unexpected behavior during gameplay... honestly anything could fall under that, it's a catch all statement.

So seeing ghosting or shimmer or visual glitches/hiccups caused by scaling could fall into that category

I forsee UI being one of the issues

It also say improves the image quality for ps4 games. Unless they are injecting some post processing somehow, we mostly understand image quality with resolution, so upscaling, super sampling is probably what they mean here

Because it's a generic upscaling algorithm. There's all sorts of PS4 games with strange resolutions and display tricks. Games dropping to 50% vertical resolution may possibly look pretty bad when it's run through a generic upscaler.

It's completely unrelated to game code.

I'm inclined to think that, if this was as generic and ordinary as some suggest, that the base ps5 would have already gotten the same enhancement option before now.

Either this is using something proprietary in the Pro or it'll also come to ps5 soon; don't think it's simply just extra overhead from ps5 to Pro that makes it possible.

I wish they would give us some details already. What's the point of new features if they don't advertise them.

this feature probably wont do much and apply to certain ps4 games only, just my guessing.

Maybe its just like the LS1 upscaler with Lossless Scaling that does ML upscaling but its on a more generic level instead of optimised per game.

Maybe they just port some of their incredible AI upscaling for TVs to the AI chip of the PS5 Pro?
I mean the AI functionality is there and is not used when playing PS4 games. I am sure it is somehow possible...
