A new firmware version is now available to download
A brand new System Software Update for the PlayStation 5 (PS5), was deployed on July 7. The latest firmware update brings the console to version 22.01-05.50 and includes some new video settings as well as some improvements to system performance.
PlayStation fans have had a busy 24 hours, with Santa Monica Studios finally revealing the release date for their upcoming title, God of War: Ragnarok. Arguably one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Ragnarok launches for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 9th.
Now, if you’ve turned on your PS5 console this morning, you’ve likely discovered a brand new System Software Update to download. Here are the official patch notes for the July 7 PS5 update, so you can see exactly what’s new.
PlayStation 5 System Software Update 22.01-05.50 Patch Notes
The latest PS5 System Software Update was deployed on July 7 and comes in at a little over 1GB. According to the official patch notes found on the console, here’s what’s new in the latest update:For the best PlayStation experience, make sure your PS5 system software is always updated to the latest version. To learn more, see the online user’s guide from (Settings) on your PS5.
Main features in this system software update.
- If you’re using a TV that supports ALLM (auto low latency mode), you can adjust ALLM settings in [Settings] > [Screen and Video] > [Video Output] > [ALLM].
- If you select [Automatic], your TV will automatically switch to low-latency mode while playing games.
- If you select [Off], ALLM won’t be enabled, except during VRR (variable refresh rate) output.
- This system software update improves system performance.
Sony is yet to share any further details on the July 7 PlayStation 5 update, but it seems as though all of the changes are detailed in the console’s patch notes. We will be sure to keep you updated on any further announcements by Sony, so stay tuned.
