Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.49 brings six new cars, updated physics simulation model, and more on July 24

I’ve just remembered that I recently spent all my credits on some classic cars, so I need to save the coppers again for the new ones tomorrow. Bugger. Luckily it doesn’t take too long to earn a decent amount of credits nowadays.

It’s crazy to think that I still have around 150 cars to collect, considering I’ve been playing the game fairly regularly since it released, and they keep adding more. I’ve only completed around 70% of the races as well. The game has a few flaws (lack of weather on all tracks, limited time trial leaderboards, and no option to set up your own championships), but the content is staggering really.

Can’t wait for the new track tomorrow - it’s been too long!

Another solid update, still think new stuff should be introduced through menu books though, either giving out the cars, or a hefty credit boost.

I got bored of doing Sardegna over and over, haven't played for months.

Really surprised by how different the handling feels now, especially while breaking. Tire compound als has a greater impact. A lot of subtle dynamic movement. I like it.

Off road / Rally behaviour feels much more predictable with this. Nice job.

I just checked this out and it is really cool. Basically you can watch the Nations Cup replays in the GT7 engine itself, so it is being shown in realtime (meaning you can pause, rewind, change cameras/cars, etc). However, they updated the replay engine so that it supports all of the broadcast stuff, so you can watch the original broadcast exactly with the custom graphics, player photos, etc etc. I'm guessing they added the eSports build of the replay system to the actual game.

I own the game and haven't dived into it as much as I've wanted to. Back in the day I used to love GT. I loved the progression aspect of it. Building your way up to getting great cars. But recent entries I just haven't been able to get into it as much. I play for a few hours and just get bored. I'm going to try to get into it again at some point.

700 hrs into this gem of an immersive game since Mar 2022, it's still the only racing game that I game in every now and then. Long live GT and PD. The one thing I'd like to see improve a lot in GT8 is better textures for trees, grass and even higher fidelity for the environments. I mean the car details are already insane, so just the environment detail plus camera adjustments to the 3rd person driving (even though I mostly drive it in cockpit view) would be nice.

A GT8 without the shackles of the PS4, with all the cars they have worked on so far for this game plus plenty of others...
If they release something like that in 2026 or 2027 that would be awesome.

What seems to be the consensus on the physics? I loved how it was pre-patch, haven't tried the new patch yet.. worried it's going to be too different

Update looks to be great, excited to try the new track when I get back from vacation.

This isn’t a comparison, so don’t be weird and make it one, but the GT and Forza Motorsport “made up” tracks or whatever you want to call them have been some of my favorites throughout the years.

Ok the world rally challenge on the new track will take me a bit to get done. What car are people using and tyre tips? Fuel consumption?

Man you have a pretty kick ass library.

Yes it’s gorgeous, and it’s a sim but it’s a console driving sim, it’s not overly hard or realistic. It’s just not Need for Speed or Forza Horizon.

I’ve played them all pretty much and I really can’t find anything that was as fun as GT sport. I want to get gt7 but I’ll be waiting a bit longer.

Been playing FM8 lately and I gotta admit... I like the driving in FM8 more than GT7.

It's not the physics. It's the immersion from the dynamic chase cams in FM8, that GT7 refuses to allow proper adjustments.

In fact. I have a strong sense that Polyphony reduced the dynamics of the chase cam in GT7, through updates. FM8 just feels better to drive, for me.

I did ONE race with the Gallardo and I turned the game off, due to the archaic chase cam design being too stiff.

Very subjective. I literally can't play Forza games because of chase camera, especially when camera changes its field of view during acceleration/braking. So arcade. Of course it's not only reason but still.

One thing we can agree on is the untogglable dynamic FOV in FM8. It's the one think I wish I could turn off.

Forza feels better in 3rd person, GT feels better in 1st person.

Lol I mean your entitled to your opinion, but immersion and chase cam?

Do you drive your real car in chase cam mode.

Immersion = feeling of attachment to an experience. Something FM8 does better, for me.
I have a PSVR2, but I didnt want to be forced into driver view, at the time.

Did this new physics update like completely change dirt racing? I've hated the off road stuff in literally every Gran Turismo game because it never made any sense and felt terrible, but I just did a couple races in the new Impreza and it felt... Great? Fun? Like I would expect a car to handle on the dirt?

This is absolutely huge if they finally nailed off road racing.

Ok yeah I just took a truck I've used a lot for a spin and it's totally different feeling. This is awesome.
