PSN, Battlenet, Riot, and others DDOSed; PSN returning lightly toasted with butter

My friend went out and bought this yesterday..

We just want to enjoy our bank holiday weekend :(
At least you have physical games to play, my PS4 arrived today and I was relying on downloading my PS Plus games :/

Today marks a milestone for the war on freedom. We've managed to ruin a nice relaxing Sunday and have forced people to leave their homes and enjoy sun light, human interaction, and be productive. Alluh Akbar.

Pretty much. And some of you are taking it personally that people are ignorant, too. Get a grip.

Its the message that many are trying to correct.
The word HACK has a huge variety of meaning when it comes to pretty much anything.
I can hack my chair to be able to be a recliner, or I could hack a computer to gain personal information on others.
The problem with calling a DDoS a hack isn't that its not. The problem is that the word Hack brings up the thought of security being compromised, personal data being breached, or harm when talking about computer hacks, or server hacks.

You dont read "Sony has been hacked!" and think its all OK, no worry to personal info.

You feel frustrated when you read "Sony DDoS Attacked!", but you are not afraid for personal lose.

The Sunday truce has been around as long as the game itself, man. I mean, you know what I'm saying? You can do some shit and be like what the fuck, but hey, NEVER on no Sunday, man.

Oh wow, these people are silly little children.

Btw, I'm no computer expert, but DDoS attacks just means overloaded servers, right? And not account info being compromised? Either way I'm removing my cc info from PSN the first chance I get, but would still like to know for sure.

Smart man. Its just a pain in the ass to enter it in every time you want to purchase something. But I guess you could give that a first world problem hash tag.

Several gaming servers have been at the receiving end of DDoS attacks over the past several hours. Blizzard's Battle.net servers, Riot's League of Legends, Grinding Gear Games' Path of Exile, and PlayStation Network are among those under attack by a group of hackers calling themselves Lizard Squad.

I was under the impression it was just Sony having issues but it looks like it's happening to a few services.

You know there are many measures that can be taken to completely prevent DDOS attacks.

The explain to me please why none of the affected party' and those who have been affected by it have one of these methods installed yesterday ?because right now they are all losing revenue as long as there system lie flat.

Yeah, it does. And good. Its always a good idea not to store card data even though it may be inconveniencing to put it in.

Would we know for sure either way if the servers are inaccessible? (Web log-in works for me on a US account, but I get errors on a lot of content.)

Just a wild theory: if they would have indeed breached into Sony's servers, they would have presented it another way than on Twitter. They would have put their name on the website itself.

I'm just speculating; considering the childish tweets and the seemingly false knowledge about DDoS I just assume this is just a bunch of script kiddies who want the attention and will continue doing this bullshit until they get caught.

ISIS flag eh, this people are actually useless babaies making light of a very serious situation the middle east by comparing it to some low level server disruption. Jesus, people in the west are too comfy.

Correct. DDoS is just server overload. Your personal information is very likely safe.
No information has been posted that a Breach has happened.

Actually I just woke up. Anyway, most people (people with a rational brain) would agree that ignorance is a dangerous thing and should be quashed quickly with knowledge. I mean you did come here to learn about things right? Or are you a troll?
There's a big difference between correcting someone and berating them for not knowing. I'm pretty sure that's the point the poster was trying to make.
