MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is available for wishlist on Steam and PSN

So with your logic Helldivers 2 will be announced for Xbox any day now.
No, I'm solely basing this on the strategic use of the word Launch that sony intentionally used for the release of this game on PS5 and PC, implying it will first release on these platform for a period of time before it's release on other platorms.

You make some great points there, when you think about it! And youre right about EVO and it just clicked again. Sony want to clearly support the fighting community and have a game that can be included and drive excitement for the tournament.

Im getting even more hyped now!

Did you enjoy the arcade mode on SF VI? I must dedicate some time to that game. I bought it day one and haven't played for more than 3 hours 😞 im dissappijted in myself.
I think the SF6 arcade mode was just ok. I would have prefered to see anime cutscenes like in SF4 instead of illustrations for its story portions, and regarding writing to have more meaningful stories that have a depper efect to develop these characters and move forward the lore of the series, stuff as could be:
  • Deeper relationship between characters & stronger motivations, stuff like 'you killed my father/master', 'you kidnapped my girlfriend', Ryu & Chun maybe becoming a couple, one character starting to train another (so in future entries could have some move similar to the other one)...
  • To make another World Warrior tournament and having somebody as the canon winner
  • Continue stuff from other entries like: what is Haggar doing now? What happened with the SF3 bad guys (Illuminatis) when defeated by Alex?
  • Show adult versions of characters that in previous games were teens or kids (as done with Kens's son): Sean, Sakura, Karin, Guile's daughter
  • Introduce some new secondary/NPC character as son/daughter/student of somebody
But well, at least in the World Tour mode they go pretty deep into the lore, and many of these things could be addressed in both the arcade mode and specially World Tour as they keep releasing more seasons and characters.

I'd also to have more special intro animations when certain characters fight together, and to see more frequently that characters exchange some words related to the story of that character's arcade mode (we only get a few plus the win quotes).

And well, if I'd be the designer of these games, each season or two I'd release a new arcade mode story for all characters. Like adding new episodes telling new stories about them, and each season could be themed (one could be about a new edition of the tournament, another could be about the rise of a new bad guys organization probably from the remnants of Shadaloo and Illuminaties or because since the start were behind both, etc).

Nah, Sony has been pretty clear many times:
  • Bungie live GaaS games will release day one everywhere including rival consoles
  • The PS Studios GaaS titles (like this one) will release day one on PS and (excluding for now GT and MLB) PC, but not in rival consoles
  • The PS Studios SP new games release in PS only, and most of them later get ported to PC
Exceptions:
  • MLB: day one in rival consoles, no (for now) PC version
  • Lego: day one in PC and Switch
  • Death Stranding: Kojima bought the IP and is allowed to publish it elsewhere with somebody else as publisher, and also use it outside gaming
  • A few old mostly family friendly Japan & portables focused titles: Bandai Namco gets the license to remaster or release new entries day one in PS, PC & Switch

They've used the word "launch" before for other games.

"Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store January 30, 2025. For more information, visit the PlayStation Blog."

Not into fighting games nor Marvel, but glad to see more games landing day 1 on PC.

Looks like this game is Region Locked.

One second they remove region lock from their games, the next they re-add it to new releases.

It's clear they haven't learned their lesson.

They will probably change it when pre-orders open, the game is still a year away from release.
