Bought 'The Last of Us' yesterday night, set my Playstation to download it overnight.

Wake up and can't even play the campaign offline (the screen just hangs) try to connect to the store and network (blue OS screen hangs), pretty gutted seeing as I've never experienced playing this game before. EDIT: I had snacks and everything all prepared.

I won't call them "hacker" before knowing more about them, but the tricky part of a DDoS attack is not the attack itself, it's building a network extensive enough to be able to produce a huge number of requests at the same time. With most important network services, you usually won't break them with just two dozen computers if the servers are set up correctly.

So building the network (e.g. creating a large botnet) may require some tricks or technical knowledge. *may*... Too early to tell before details are more well-known.

You can rent botnets now (no, I am not kidding).

One thing that this illuminates is the weird difference across users. Some PS4 owners can play their installed DD titles just fine, and others are completely locked out?

How does something like that happen?

I keep seeing it pop up, some admitting, some not, but it seems to be related to activating primary console/primary id and people are probably doing this for game sharing reasons either with friends, multiple consoles or bypassing regions.

Also I wonder because I haven't seen it mentioned, are these PS Plus games people are having problems with?

This is complete bull. I can't play any games I've downloaded. Even single player because it says I don't have the license. My ps4 is set as my primary console.

remove the internet connection entirely from your console. works for me. unplugged the ethernet, remove the wifi connection or whatever...

Bummer. I'm in the same boat

The issue is, once the PS4 thinks there is a problem with the licences, then you're fucked until you can reactivate them. There is a little padlock next to the game.

Did the Lizard Squad guy tweet something about his own mother spelling it "mom" ?

Inferring he's from the USA due to that spelling.

As EU AUS NZ UK spell it mum.

Anyway I'm out, hope its back up soon.

OT: I'm from the UK and I hate that we use mum. I was brought up calling her mam. It's probably a northern thing. Its a ruddy nightmare getting a card on her birthday/mother's day.

On topic: I hope this resolves, I've been lashing through TLoU:Left Behind on grounded. I need to sync my 100% trophy completion of it. I don't trust my PS4 to keep it safe 😜

Brother, we feel the same pain. Looks like I'm going to have to go back to playing some Dead Rising 3 and give those snacks some loving.

I've just seen an on screen message saying "The Playstation network is currently undergoing maintenance". Please fix it.

It's set to primary. Never switched. Even checked it a couple days ago for some random reason.

Do you game share? Maybe you're trying a digital game that someone else has as their primary? If you have it set as primary and don't gameshare then I don't know what else it could be besides some bug. In that case they need to figure it out and get it fixed.

Feel for you. Crappy situation caused by a bunch of douchebags.

This behaviour is a security feature in both the PS4 and X1. If the system cannot access the servers when you have a working internet connection, it assumes you don't have the license to play digital games and apps. Essentially one of the first lines of defence against pirating games.

To fix it, disconnect your system from the internet completely.

I hope they get caught.

Has Xbox Live ever been under a DDoS attack? I never remember one happening. With all of the hate people have towards Microsoft, you'd think it'd be one of the main places attacked. Or are these pussies scared of messing with them? lol

I went to go buy the Sly Collection on vita and forgot about this. Hope this doesn't last all day and the flash sale is over before I can get it.

As said above, once your PS4 locks them - you're locked until it resolves the license issue.

I turned off my PS4 and turned it back on. I pressed the PS button and X on my profile. And it just sits there. When I press or move the controller, nothing happens. This is the second time. I can't even log into my user. :( All I can do is hold the PS button and turn off the system. When I'm on this menu I can use my controller though.

I don't think so. I only remember live going down, for a significant amount of time, around Christmas some odd years ago.

Mam sounds worse than Mum. It's worse than Mom too.

My system could not access the servers while I had a working internet connection and yet I'm still able to play everything I've tried just fine (offline obviously). Wolfenstein (physical) and Trials HD (digital) give me server errors but I ignore/acknowledge them and then am able to play single player for both.

Suddenly after trying around 20 times to try and boot: 'The Last of Us'- my game has finally started loading and then working!

UK resident here, just keep trying it guys. Happy gaming!

Referring to the possibility of LS being hacked about three posts before mine. Do people read chronologically on here?

You should have quoted. Sometimes I'm late to threads and don't have time to scroll every single past comment, especially when the thread is over 20 pages long.

I'm not a mind reader. And even though this site is dominated by Sony owners and fans, I can't predict who's saying what and why just by looking at their name and avatar.
