PSN connection problems (12/24)

Yeah, I totally just remembered that I'm paying for this service now... Not too happy about it, really. Where's that money going?
This is my biggest problem is when you are paying for a service. In the past when they would go down for 8-12 hours every 3 months on a Thursday for maintenance or upgrades, I wouldn't care. Now that it's a paid service, i am being far more critical of it. Where is that money going Sony?!

Something in Seattle is getting hit big over and over.

Gaben got this

People are still blaming Sony when it has been explained multiple times in this thread that there is nothing they can do about a ddos attack?

Microsoft seems to be doing something about the attack on them right now.

It's possible to deter DDOS attacks, it's just not easy. I'm sure Sony is attempting to the best they can.
Perhaps they'll invest more in the area after these recent attacks.

Can't sign in either, thought it was an network error, but glad (and not glad) its not. Updates seem to be occurring when I put in my new games but that could just be an install thing.

Its not a ddos attack its christmas. Psn goes down all the time when too many people are on and clearly they did nothing about it for christmas. Xbox did the same thing 7 years ago.

Just keep the code, if anything went wrong, support should be able to verify and unlock.

Thanks. I googled it and there's a huge topic on the official Playstation forums about it. Seems like this is happening to everyone trying to enter that code right now.

Luckily I updated their system and downloaded a lot of stuff ahead of time :D

Could this have something to do with North Korea?

No. It has to do with companies wanting our money but not wanting to invest that money back into their services.

I paid $400 for a fucking box that can't send messages on a GOOD day. This isn't even remotely surprising.

Except the biggest launch/activity on the platform, Destiny, went without a hitch. It's not as simple as traffic=lol Sony.

Now, it could be heavy traffic to certain services like account creations/store being the main bog. But general signing in/traffic claims haven't been consistently supported.

Wanted to play Destiny and LBP3 online... well, at least I can play Sunset Overdrive :).
Sad for those that unpacked their PS4 today though, hopefully this thing will be resolved asap!!!

Got a new Vita. Only have digital games. Cannot connect to the store.

Sadness. This is the first step on my quest to meltdown.

I'm a Canadian with a Canadian PSN account, but I currently live in Taiwan. I can't connect. Keep getting error messages.

Pretty widespread. Fucking hell.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 online is running with zero hitches. This is the Nintendo network we're talking about here.

What is this madness

You'd think the Chinese would have better things to do.

All those attacks coming out of China. What is the purpose of them? What do the Chinese gain?

The strange thing for me is that I can connect to PSN on PS3 no problem and can play multiplayer and everything.

On PS4 it signs me in no problem but it's like the the multiplayer on the games I've tried is non existent. I've tried GTAV, Driveclub and Advanced Warfare. Hmmm..
