PSN connection problems (12/24)

For us normal people. The PSN infrastructure group apparently never got a Christmas break because of some shitty kids running scripts for the lulz.

It's not only unfunny to make fun of the innocent party that's sacrificing time with their families to get your viddy games working, its also a bit heartless. Grow up.
The picture had nothing to do with Christmas. It was mocking Sony's incompetence to maintain their network. Being incompetent on Christmas is still being incompetent. And I'm talking about Sony being incompetent, not the individual engineers who are almost surely under-supported. as soon as they started barging for PSN, the onus was on them to keep it up and secure.

How about you start saying No Words.

Nah, I'll keep talking. Feel free to continue issuing advice, if you wish.
How would you stop DDOS attack? Didnt both XBL and PSN go down during christmas? Like i said previously, my psn was working christmas night and played for 8 hours. (5 hours of pvp on destiny with no problem) Although it did go down again today, its back up for me.

and how about you think about what you're saying.

Some people have yet to have Christmas.

im getting 3 different messages when i try to log in.. its ether "under maintenance", "error", or it told me my "password was invalid..change your password etc etc"

That's great for you. I haven't been able to use PSN for three days now. I tried in the afternoon on the 24th and I had maintenance problems. 25th and 26th I kept getting errors all day.

After third attempt it started working and i played pvp for 5 hours lol Its frustrating i know, best of luck :)

Have no time to try it, but some people nearby are getting online. I hope it will work when I return from work :)

.

I'm in a room right now, just wanted to share that picture.

PSN log-in and Store has worked fine for me all last night and tonight... every time I check or turn on my PS4, I'm logged in and can browse the store fine... Can upload with PS Share fine... Even view the 'What's New' fine half the time, other the time nothing loads.... I've never been logged out or anything.

But none of the PSN game services work. I tried Driveclub last night and again today and it's just instantly disconnected from PSN. No attempt even to connect. Just a straight 'cannot connect' error for everything.

The PS4 is working for me now, I just turned it off and back on and it signed in just fine.

The PS3 won't sign in though, doesn't even attempt to.

I'm online on my PS4 and I can get to the Store website on my PC. Only downside is all I want to do is buy AW with some PSN cards I got for x-mas. Can't redeem the codes. So close but so far....

I can't criticize Sony because some employees missed Christmas?
No, but you need to explain why you're trashing PSN for incompetence when it comes to DDOS. In this thread and others, it has been explained multiple times that the problem is a combination of the way the whole internet is designed plus a use of the internet that focuses on low latency.

So either that appraisal of the problem of DDOS is wrong (which you may have claimed and I missed it). Or, in your view, Sony is incompetent because of the internet and gaming, which seems to mischaracterise what Sony does.

Have you guys had any actual console issues? I tried loading a (disc) game, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, but it keeps freezing at the splash screen now. I tried deleting the data and installing it again, but no dice. Couldn't get Samurai Warriors 4 to load either.

I'm wondering if something broke in my PS4 or if the sporadic PSN issues might be causing this?
Try just disabling internet and see if it starts. Had to do that for Lego Marvel whatever it was called

Other services have already recovered in a much more timely manner. This is consistent with Sony. When they go down, they stay down for days. This happens with issues even outside of DDOSes. I see no reason why I should assume they are just being specially targeted for longer. Once they started collecting money for PS+, the expectation is that the service will be properly funded and maintained. This has not been the case for a while year. I'm not upset at them going down to a DDOS. I'm upset at their molasses nature at fixing a problem and responding at all.

Welcome to the club. Too bad you have to be signed into PSN for it to work... even though it doesn't require PS+

The worst part is that it's working on PS3 and PC. It's just PS4 users who can't play at this point. :(

Is it working on PS3? It hasn't been for me. . .

But that's not how a DDOS works. It doesn't just turn off their servers and make them have to drive over and turn them on. It's an on-going thing until whoever is doing it decides to stop. Sure, there are possibly things that can be done depending on how severe the DDOS is, but if it's bad enough nothing can happen until the attackers stop. You can be mad all you want, but you are just assuming they are just being lazy/incompetent and are at fault. Unless you know the circumstances better than others here?

Hmmm. Sniffing out the fake outrage here. Let's give it a rest now shall we?
