PSN dynamic pricing in full effect during Spring Sale

Everywhere I check, I only see people posting the single, higher price. I can't check for this game, as I bought it digitally already.

Both the governments (over the years) and people don't want it. This also allows us to be independent from decisions made in Berlin (like how high interest rates are etc.).

I'd question their methodology, because that means they would only be counting games bought on their digital storefront. Do they count discs toward these? Can I borrow/rent games and play them, will those be counted as affecting the advertised discounts? Is it quantity of games bought or total money spent in the store? Are they accounting for PS+ subscriptions?

If I'm coming up with that after a minute posting on a forum, I'm quite sure it's more complicated (and probably a multitude of factors) inside Sony itself. I still don't like this approach, it's a dangerous slippery slope to how they frame it as discounts where as it will keep MSRP and prices in general higher in order to offer those lower discounts. Rather than the ATLs available to everyone and visible to price trackers, the real ATL is now hidden behind personalized offers made by some unknown algorithm Sony cooked up and will never share.

I'd gladly charge them both €500, but I know one won't pay that much.

And none of the above is offensive to me. I can understand companies wanting to charge people as much as they can. If you can somehow make charging women and white people more work, then more power to you I guess.
 
I used to buy lots of shit during sales on PSN. I recall getting screwed out of a $15 credit because I don't look at PSN notifications and didn't activate the credit. Customer support answer was Oh well too bad. Since then I always buy elsewhere unless PS5 Pro has the best version of a game I want to play.

Also we can spin this scenario as far as we want, since Sony has all the data ready for every user.
Who plays with whom? Which player groups always buy games together? Who among them is willing to spend more, and who is more hesitant, and so on...
We have to assume that this practice isn't used to do the player a favor, it's more like exploiting peoples minds.

They are starting to fly really close to the sun. Piss poor decision making on games to develop / not develop, highway robbery of an online tax (80 a year for online is disgusting), and now intentionally juicing the most loyal customers if this is true.

Definitely the thing I was worried about happening, where they alter the discount based on parameters that I worry will only get more predatory over time.

Only erodes value in the platform for me.
 
I prefer my games on disc when possible. The day I go full digital is the day I switch fully to my PC. This is just another reason to not buy digital on console.

I don't know that competition would've prevented this. There's plenty of competition in the airline space and every airline does dynamic pricing. Same with hotels, Uber, sporting events, etc.

Sony doesn't get enough shit for their game prices this gen.

Last gen they still had a discount range. The PS Hits banner. Games like TLOU, Killzone, GoW 3 remaster etc all at £15 each.

This gen, their first party titles are at maximum price and hardly get any decent discounts.

Demon's Souls remake is currently £70 and I don't think I've seen it below £35.

Oh, and Astro Bot is showing as £42.59 for me in sale on the UK store.

In UK and EU possibly, but no chance in the US. Dynamic pricing has already been a thing in multiple industries for many years.

I'm about as anti-regulation as it gets but this shit is ridiculous and should be illegal or required to show others what the lowest offered price to others is.

Don't think most people are even going to notice because new games are still going to be the same price when they come out. The algorithm is most likely going to be used to target consumers with discounts on games that they're interested in buying but needs a little "incentive".
