Yup I'm downloading Burnout Paradise and Under Siege in the background. Is that really the reason for the slow installing? That seems.. odd.
It's not odd at all. You're installing to the same HDD you're downloading to. They should just do what MS do on 360 though: pausing all downloads when installing to the HDD.

Installing is taking soo long when you do it while downloading.
It not only slows down the install but also the downloads that are happening at the same time. It's faster to download everything then install everything than it is to download and install at the same time.

Is the Japanese store not up yet?
No and there's no date for when it'll be up.

Man, I'm really enjoying Infamous. I haven't played an open world game in a long time. I think that's part of why it's appealing to me. The powers are fun to use and the story's been pretty cool so far. Love the superhero vibe to it. :)

Also played some Dead Nation last night. I had to get accustomed a bit to the controls. Even though you use R1 to shoot at the zombies, it still has kind of a twin stick shooter feel going for it. I accidentally kept throwing grenades because I kept pushing L1. I have that setup so burned in my mind (L1 to zoom, R1 to shoot) it's just habit.

Once I switched throwing grenades to the square button I was good. I've been enjoying both games though, but definitely liking Infamous more.

Finally managed to get inFAMOUS and Wipeout downloaded.

Really liked the brief time I spent with both of them. Looking forward to more of it!

infamous gets into a bit of a slump once you unlock the second area, but push through because the powers you get become incredible.

So I'm still new to PS3.

I have an account that is eligible for the Welcome Back program, but is not my main account. Once I download and install those games. Can my regular PSN account enjoy those full games as if they owned them?

A comparison would be with Xbox Live. If one profile buys an Xbox Live Arcade game, any other profiles on the system can play the full game as well, but do not "own" it.

The store was acting wonky last night but I got my 2 free games. Sadly I had most of the 'free' offerings already but went with Dead Nation and Wipeout HD since I didn't own them.

Dead Nation is good, seems pretty fun so I'm happy with that. I'm not a fan of Wipeout to be honest though, I don't understand why people like it as it seem so boring, but for free the price was right.

i get bored of racers but i find wipeout incredible. there's so much to do in wipeout hd + fury. 3D is intense and the different modes are cool. everyone has their different tastes though.

Just a word of warning. If you have tried the ps plus trial of infamous before on your account, then you will not be able to choose infamous as one of your games.. I learned that the hard way.. And it pisses me off..

I picked the same two games and I kinda agree with you, Dead Nation seems fun but Wipeout is I dunno not that good I guess.

Once the game is on your hard drive you can play it from any account.

Not true. I had an expired version of infamous from PS plus a couple of months ago. Selected it as one of my free games and click extend date. Now it's fully unlocked with no expire date.

PlayStation Home Welcome Back Package Details
As part of PlayStation Network’s ‘Welcome Back’ Program, PlayStation Home will be offering an enormous package to all players as a way of saying “thank you” to our community for your ongoing support. Today we will begin rolling out the first phase of this customer appreciation program, which will include 100 free items, two personal spaces, and an exclusive game available for all users to download for 30 days. Here’s what we will be giving you (and when):

100 virtual items: The 100 free virtual items package will be available starting today from the Central Plaza kiosk. This huge package includes popular clothing and furniture items and has been made possible thanks to our 3rd Party partners – including Lockwood Publishing, Heavy Water, Codeglue, Konami, Mass Media, Digital Leisure, LOOT, and Hellfire Games.

Two personal spaces: The Dragon’s Lair and the Mansion Garage – a medieval abode based upon Digital Leisure’s classic game and a luxurious, premium personal space never before released to the PlayStation Home community – will be available to all players today from the Central Plaza kiosk.

Ooblag’s Alien Casino: This is an exclusive game that will be published later this month and will be available via the PlayStation Home Navigator. Enter this interstellar casino and try your hand at Ooblag, a multiplayer game of craps…with a twist. Winners will be rewarded by being transformed into extraterrestrial high rollers while losers will be punished severely by Raaksu, the casino’s ruthless Pit Boss. As an added bonus, players that access the Ooblag Alien Casino space will be rewarded an active item version of the Ooblag game that can be played in their personal spaces.

On my US account I was able to redeem psp games and download them even tho I don't have a PSP. I intend to buy a NGP sooner or later.

Can't seem to do it on my Australian one tho :| It makes it sound like they have separated accounts there.

Speaking of my Australian one, I don't have Fury so I guess I'll delete my US Wipeout and download Australia's.

Just spent some time playing the Welcome back games (and the PSN+ stuff I missed)

InFamous - Pretty good. I think I'll enjoy this. From the short amount I played Cole seems like a likeable guy which I didn't expect from what I've seen of infamous (not much to be honest).

Dead Nation - meh. Could be good but it's so damn dark (I know, that's the point) Could be fun in co-op. I like how they have a world wide tracking thing that seems to pool the collective players data together from each region. Found it a bit funny Japan was at top (above America) for some reason.

Wipeout HD/Fury - I already had this from PSN+ way back but it's nice to have this for keeps now when/if I let me PSN+ run out.

Super Stardust HD - I like. Nice twin-stick shooter with lots of pretty colours and effects.

James Pond - One of the PSN+ titles up. a PS1 classic. WTF? I mean, I'm outside an arctic castle one minute, go through a door and am in a weird world with ping pong paddles and balls as a background. I expected it to be a side srcolling platformer but not as weird as this, like with levels that make more sense.

Not had a chance to play the PSP games I downloaded (Modnation Racing and Killzone: Liberation) because I only have a 1GB memorystick for my PSP. Might hold off on playing them until the NGP/Vita is out and I have one. Unless I find a cheap memstick duo that can hold the games (and while it's at it all the PS1 games from PSN+).

Gotta say I never really used PSN before. Now I got 5 full games for free.

Sony is awesome.
Gotta love Sony for rewarding people who rarely touch their PS3's.

I presume Burnout only lasts until the free 30 days of PS+ expires?

Yes.

Do I get to keep the free games in PlayStation Plus forever?
A: Content that is free in PlayStation Plus will not be available after your PlayStation Plus time has expired. However, if you decide to join PlayStation Plus, you’ll have access to all of the content you downloaded during your 30 day access for as long as you are a subscriber.

Have to say that this Welcome Back program has treated me well. I ended up grabbing:

1. Infamous
2. LittleBigPlanet
3. Dead Nation
4. Ratchet and Clank: Quest For Booty
5. Modnation Racers
6. Pursuit Force (Already have Killzone, don't want another LBP)

Then I activated my Euro PS+ and grabbed Burnout Paradise and Streets of Rage 2.

I'm just waiting for the the Japanese PStore and Hong Kong PStore to be back to get WipeOut:)

Wow. Infamous is painfully sloppy. And the Hollywood cheese / dreadful cliched writing and story-telling is suffocating. Very disappointed.

Glad I got the 60 minute demo before deciding to get it. If you have PSPlus (oh wait... you all do!). I recommend getting that first. Infamous 2 demo on there too I'll try out. Hopefully they fixed a lot of issues.

Wipeout and LBP for me! Woo!

I heard a while back about the patch for Wipeout adding advertisements and increasing load times. Is that still the case?

LBP (PSP version) doesn't seem to be working for me. The game downloaded and installed fine but after the warning stuff it just gets stuck on a blank screen. Is anyone else having this problem?

Like many, I picked Infamous as my first free game. I'm unsure what to do for the second one though. I recently got a 3D TV, so I'm really tempted to get Wipeout just to play that in 3D. Would you guys go for that, or maybe LBP instead?

A lot of people on neogaf enjoyed it and are hyped for inFAMOUS 2. inFAMOUS is rated 9.2 on IGN and 85 on metacritic.

I've only played the non full game demo back in the day and enjoyed that.

I might think it sucks but most people have some of the games or multiple region accounts. So, I got it for one.

Wipeout definitely.
LBP is pointless now that 2 is out

I redeemed everything and put it on my download list.

But everything is painfully slow or stops downloading.

I don't want to get corrupted data, if that's poissible. :|

I grabbed LBP for the PSP and installed it as I slept. Booting it up now and everything seems to work great. Might have to reinstall?

MediaGo lets me login to my EU account (which I finally parsed a working token reset link to do. Goddamn Sony, at least parse your links better. :|), I see the EU store. Click the welcome back package and... nothing showing there.

Is the Welcome Back package not up there, or is MediaGo region locked? I'd kinda like to get Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation for my PSP from there. :/

Uh, no it isn't. Content creation stuff and some costumes are LBP1 found only, to where you can't get them in 2 unless you have 1.

My downloads were going slow, for some reason if I pause and unpause them it speeds up. My Rachet download was taking forever then I paused/unpaused and its almost done

I think try again is the theme here, using that state of mind made every thing work, got me past the no content and error problems.

LBP is downloading sooo slow though :(
