wow so many online games in wipeout hd! normally it's completely dead. :lol Any WOHD fan that wants to play online now's the perfect time. They are all newbs playing on venom but it's better than nothing. I hope they all remain, offering the game for free could turn out to be a great thing for the wipeout community.

Normal launch: Good for two weeks because Studio Liverpool glitched everyone including me besides a subset of people for two years.
Fury launches: Fixed HD's login problems. Online is busy for about a month, then dies.

PSN+ freebie on launch of service: Busy for a month, then dies again.

Given as a gift for PSN hack: Busy for a month then dies again because people won't stick around due to it having to take work to get decent at.

I'm calling it right now.

jett said:
:lol Why are these newbs picking phantom speed? Everyone killed themselves but me in teh last race.

Because they're probably thinking (Jeremy Clarkson) "POWERRRRRRRRRR" = bestest and controllable. It isn't.

Auto-pilot to prevent crashing into walls/killing yourself = easy win against newbies even if it takes about as long as a venom lap.

Shit. Does it matter what order the 3 parts of Wipeout are downloaded in?

No, but there are other PSN titles that are similar. Are you new to PSN games or something? PSN weirdly has developers make "demos" and never lists them (or lists them for a while, finds out there's a free trophy glitch "Smile Please" that causes the trophy list to be installed and prevent the demo users from gaining the others, thereby forcing them to buy the game if they are anal) to where the download list has the demo and key. It isn't like X-box Live where you get the full game and unlock in one download.zip

Thanks, I read this thread a bit ago and should have noticed the title said "UPDATED" and like the other poster said, I should have read the OP again hah!

Yeah. I don't know the folder structure the PS3 uses for programs, but my guess is it they're all independent files that get chucked in a folder with the game's product code.

This is also true for disc games where you can download any free time-limited DLC before even you own the game. Once you own the game, even if it needs to install itself or apply updates, the DLC doesn't get erased or messed up.

I just want to say: I love Mod Nation PSP. Minus the funky kart handling it's good portable fun, and the online mode is really well done. Too bad someone voted me 1 star of 5. Dick. :( I haven't even put anything up there to earn that! :(

Shame the PS3 version is apparently poor with load times as the load times (at least coming off the memory stick) are pretty fast here.

I just hope Sony doesn't block my PSP/CFW from playing online. :( Otherwise you lose a big part of the game.

I chose Wipeout HD Fury (already owned the base game) for my first free PS3 game but can't decide on the second. I already own LBP and I already beat the main game of Infamous but didn't do any of the side content. I was never really interested in Dead Nation or Super Stardust HD.

The only PSP choice that even looks remotely interesting for me is Killzone Liberation. Is that game even worth shimmying into my backlog?

EDIT: Do selections for other regions count against the same total? Because I also just got my UK password back and will probably try to get Quest For Booty. Never played Ratchet & Clank before.

My download of Infamous was stuck at like 40% for a while, not moving at all. I paused it, then resumed it, and it finally started back up again. This may be obvious to most, but just in case some don't realize it, if you get a slow speed, try pausing it and restarting it again.

Killzone Liberation is the best shooter on the PSP. It's a really good game.

You get 2 free games per account, so you can have 4 total out of the 6 they're offering between US and UK. Just keep in mind save files are region locked, so for example if you want to resume your inFamous playthrough you should grab it from the US store not UK.

Don't hype yourself up too much. You may hate it. The controls are pretty much the break or make point for people, I feel. Otherwise it's a solid port of the PS3 ideas to the PSP.

What about game installs? I've been able to download Japanese demos, install them on my US account, and play them on that account. I've also been able to download Japanese PSP demos, install them on my US account, and then attach them to my US PSP and play them on the same account.

Oh, and the Japanese store isn't up yet is it? I'll probably get PS3 Echochrome. Would've been great if they threw in a free PS1 game.

Dead Nation or LBP. I only have one account sadly enough, and have to choose.

I've been leaning more towards DN since my old impression of LBP wasn't swell, but I've been hearing a lot of bad on DN too. I already own the base game for Wipeout and not interested in SSD HD

Don't bother with DN unless you have HDTV. Text too small, zombies barely recognizable. Good thing I have more than one account otherwise I wouldn't have downloaded this. For all its flaws at least LBP is playable on SDTV. But then again I don't like LBP's floaty jumps, it always frustrates me. That's why I ended up with Wipeout/inFamous for my main and Dead Nation/Ratchet on my alt. On a hindsight, I should have done Wipeout/SSD HD and Ratchet/inFamous but oh well...I also got Burnout Paradise free for 30 days but that's also barely playable on SDTV.

You'll probably have to "switch accounts" but the PSP is region free, so games from another region, besides PSN DRM anyway, have no issues on PSN logins from other areas.

Note: I don't think you need to switch accounts, but if it spits out "game can't be used/started because of ownership" or whatever, then you will need to switch. Try it.

Also the PS Home stuff is pretty sick (yes, I know GAF doesn't care but...) going t hrough the list they've given some pretty good Tee shirts and pants and shoes to go with the spaces they're giving out for free for the month. Some furniture to go with it. I especially like the Tiger and pull over jacket item. I think that'll go with my avatar pretty well with the black jeans in tow.

/In before Home haters. At least go online and go through the clunky store and get the 100 items and mess about with the stuff since it's free guys. :(

JVM and KillThee are true bros. *thumbs up* Thanks for helping me get the most out of my PS+/Welcome Back packages since my PS3 died guys. A+++ would do business with again.

How do you switch accounts on PSP? Do you have to delete the account that's currently in it? That's so annoying. Can't we have multiple accounts on PSP?

What would a monitor count under? Heh.

2nd, how much of the online is playable with just the base Wipeout

3rd, SSD HD. I have many twin stick shooters already and same with shmups. Does this one do anything different? It sounds familiar and I think I may have played it already, but I can't recall.

Question: I've grabbed two ps3 and two psp games from the Welcome Back package. The ps3 games installed fine, but I can't transfer my psp games over without getting a 80710d36 error. I'm running TN-d enabler on a Go. Is there any solution to this? I haven't tried Media Go yet.

Yeah, you have to delete the account to replace it, unfortunately. I'm not sure if "stripping the DRM" is possible for CFW PSPs to just run it as an eboot/iso type thing.

For the new post since he'll see it here hopefully than my previous post since no one GAF checks for edits:

DN is IMO a sub-par game. I paid $15 day one and got burned due to House Marquee. Stupid, stupid game design decisions all around. But they seemed to have fixed those so YMMV.

LBP has more "bang for buck" and is a punk rock/DIY approach to having fun. There is a demo on PSN if you want to retry it but if the "floaty jump" is the issue for you, you may not like it.

Wipeout HD comes with Fury included, so if you pick that even for "free" you get Fury (which is like... $10-15? Forgetting) included.

I'd say LBP, personally, but I'm slightly biased toward it.

Minus new maps from Fury and Modes (Zone Battle, forgetting the other one), you can play the online with base fury in non-Fury mode/levels games.

3rd, SSD HD. I have many twin stick shooters already and same with shmups. Does this one do anything different? It sounds familiar and I think I may have played it already, but I can't recall.

As for SSD HD, it does things different with weapon selection and a 3D planet. You're literally rotating around it.

SSD HD is a mix of modes as well. Base game: Think Geo Wars with Asteroids with a boost mechanic along with three upgradable weapons (that each are better for a different type of "asteroid")

It's really good. But apparently it does come with the extra modes/content (like the new "Impact" that came out after I bought it), so you might want to pass and get that for cheap (since it's cheap [$10?] anyway).

THERE WAS A DEMO FOR SSD HD. I'm not sure if it's been pulled by Sony/House Marquee since Sony institutes a stupid bandwidth payment/billing after a certain limit, but if you can find it you can use that to gauge if you want to get it. But it isn't the best "value" in terms of getting everything for free like the others. But still, CHEAP game that is on par with Geo Wars 1/2 in terms of quick fun for me.

It's a licensing issue. PSP needs to check with PSN for the DRM to allow your PSP to use it before transferring. IIRC that error is due to the servers being hammered. My MediaGo files were held by that as well. I'd use MediaGo personally because once unlocked you can transfer them freely to the PSP again later (IIRC). Though MediaGo may download it slowly for hours since the servers are being hammered. YMMV. :/

so is it possible to download then cancel the games from the welcome back program to just keep them in my history for future downloading? I want to get a bigger HDD(40GB PS3) since it seems I don't have enough room for everything, but by that time the promotion might be over

Hmmm, after reading the comments on the Sony blog, apparently PSP only owners don't get PS+ Plus.

Great, just great.

Ask some friend to activate PS+ with your account from their PS3.

Decided to just go with Infamous and LBP. I figure I could always just play Alien Swarm on PC, Play Gauntlet on DC, or pick up an old copy of Hunter if need be for that niche.

And another question, even though I don't have a PSP register. Its letting me choose! So Killzone Liberation and .... Which of the other three are worth getting?

can you get free PSP games on the PS3 even if you haven't got a PSN account on PSP. The reason I ask is because I am planning to get NGP and it would be nice to have some free games for it.

Yes you can. I don't have a PSP either and bought them strictly for use on the NGP.

Ratchet and Clank or SSD? What do you recommend?
Super Stardust HD by far. I still fire it up every now and then, and I bought it when it first was released. I completed Ratchet and Clank in two sittings and I am never going back to it.

Patrick Bateman said:

I got both (actually I got all games par inFAMOUS because I already own that :lol ) and they both seem pretty cool. If you're into trophies though, R&C has none.

Hmm, friend of mine in the EU has managed to pick LBP twice and now can't pick another one. Any way around that? Wouldn't have thought it was possible...

Wipeout is fantastic! The best download only game I've ever played, I'd say. And I would have never tried it were it not for this offer. Many thx Sony!

Still undecided on what my second game will be.

Well, as I already own SSD (Thanks for a nice promo the UK store had once), and owned Wipeout HD I got Dead Nation and Ratchet as part of the Welcome Home pack, but given the choice I would say get SSD.

That said, you wont go wrong with R&C either but SSD is an experience that shouldn't be missed.

Anything in your download list is yours and can be downloaded and re-downloaded again and again to its associated account name on a PS3.

Finally got my first free game Wipeout HD/Fusion. Took a little while to download but for free I'm not all that annoyed by it. Now I am having trouble figuring out what my second game will be.

I am torn between LBP and INfamous. I still have a few weeks to make up my mind till July 3rd. I'll figure something out by then. I wonder what next month's PSN+ will be offering. I'm holding off on subscribing since I really have no time to dig through all the stuff availible at the moment.

Since I am accessing my PSN US account from Japan I have been locked out of the 3 free videos but I'm not too shocked about that. It's par for the course on the 360 also. At least I can grab the games.

I wonder what will be instore for Japan PSN users...

Final word. Pleased.

If you say no after the copying the file over the PS3 will keep the file around so you can copy it again later. Why they pop up that stupid delete dialog box then and there is a mystery.
