PSP = $199.99 @ EBGames (Standard Pack)

Kumiko Nikaido

Vindication...sweet.

The new EB catalogs have arrived. And within.....surprise! Sony's PSP will go for $199.99, and the package will be the same as Japan's "Standard Pack" (PSP unit, AC Adapter, and Battery Pack). Looks like the "Value Pack" (PSP unit, carry case, 32 MB card, etc.) won't be making it's way here....unless Sony decides to throw a curve ball.

Price subject to change.....down for the better, up for the worst. :D

Another Kumiko Nikaido exclusive news

$199....not a surprise. It will be mine..oh yes, it will be mine

BTW, the FCC has a preliminary PSP manual, and it shows the Value Pack contents...so don't rule it out yet

While $150 would have been nice, $200 is still a great deal. I think I'll probably wait a bit before getting one though.... See if any problems arise ;)..

Have mine preordered already, damn I want want that sucker bad it's so seductive, like a really hot chick. Anyway this may sound redundant but here goes, get the two year warrenty, and open your psp in the store before you leave and check out the psp make sure you dont end up with a dud.

I guess EB is putting weight on the $199.99 price if they're starting to run PSP print ads at this point in time.

And it'll be a done deal for me if Sony went with the Value Pack for $200. :D

When are they going to annouce the price and date for America? If its a March launch, they'd better say soon.

$199.99 US is still a ridiculously low price for such a product. Its a bargain.

I mean the DS is $149.99 US right now, you're complaining about getting a product with a generation jump in processing power, a much larger, brighter LCD, a design sexier than even the i-Pod, and media functionality up the wazoo for only $50 more?

I'm really considering hopping on the PSP wagon. The DS just isn't enticing me right now! But don't worry, I can change!

Boo. I'm disappointed.

A $149 PSP means a $99 DS.

I'm greedy I want to buy both of them for $250 instead of $350.

That's precisely another reason why Sony wouldn't go below $199. Because they know Nintendo would follow suit with a price cut, and who knows consumers are so batshit crazy over the $99 price point that the DS might actually benefit more from that scenario than Sony would.

Hrrm... I pre-ordered the $400 bundle at Ebgames (I figured it should be easy to pick 3 games I could live with). I wonder if it would be smarter to just buy the system if the $200 price is real... I could just as easily live with one or two games.

its £170 for the standard pack I believe.

Jesus.

so the cost could end up as :

US : $199
JPN : $190
UK : $340

Regardless of what sony keep saying, i'd be damned sure i had region coding on games if i was going to pull this pricing.

I mean, who wouldn't just order a US machine and save themselves $140?

I knew the UK would come through as always. Thank you for allowing NA to have a low, low price on hardware once more!

Sir Clive Sinclair, where are you in our hour of need?

I'll be back in the UK around the time of the launch to see all the excitement as well, can't wait to get a few warm 3 quid pints down my throat....

:lol if that Euro pricing is true, Sony just fucked Europe harder than anything Nintendo's ever done.

I mean that's just ridiculous. I can't even imagine how pissed off I'd be if I were a Euro shopper and the PSP was $150 in the US.

yup, but remove 17.5% and you have around 140 quid base price.

that's still around $280

All us importers are now waiting to find out a) If movie region coding is a big deal and b) If it's possible to flash our OS to the US version...

Surely some l33t haxorz can figure that out.

That said, a US UMD movie or album would have to be wicked cheap for me to consider buying rather than ripping stuff.

Oh and if you think 1GB Mem sticks are hard to come by now, wait til the PSP is actually available here... Best Buy will wonder what the fuck is going on.

Best Buy would actually have to start stocking them first before they could wonder what's going on... ;)

I think that'll be pretty easy to flash the bios of the unit. I'm sure we'll be seeing some UI's and shells like the xbox has; most likely with built in software decoding and rippers to do with as we like.
