Anyone have some advice? I still can't get it to work.

I am trying to get my battery to full power, but in case there is something wrong with my CFW, would I be able to just downgrade to OFW 1.50, and instantly install CFW 5.00 M33-6?
IIRC you might need to go through a CFW above 3.52 before you can jump to 5.0.

holy crap, i just discovered that you can run any standard avi files on ultimate PSPtube just by copy pasting it to the "favorites" folder inside it

I just tried that. The high memory version shut my PSP off and the normal version (2.0) crashed and froze after playing a standard SD avi for about 3 seconds without any sound. Seems like we still need to convert.

1.8. But i think the 2.0 version has been released as well.

i just ran 2 full 30 minute
porn clips
, one is at 352x272 and at a low bit rate, and that one ran flawlessly all the way through, the other is at 640x480 and higher bit rate, that one sort of jitters during play through, but still ran all the way for me ..

yeah i guess playing higher resolution videos isn't exactly suitable :p but atleast it easily runs most shitty quality files.

Ok, I am having a problem with a PS1 game I am ripping. I can't get all of its music to play. I am trying to get Air Combat to work, and while a few parts of music will play, the VA and the levels music doesn't. Tried ripping the image with two diffent programs and converting it twice with anther two, and tried a few times with just taking compression off. Any suggestions on something I may be doing wrong, or how I could get the music to play?

Solved your update problem, did you?

Is this the kind of game that has redbook audio (you'll hear music if you pop it into a standard CD player)?

If so, then you might need to rip it using very specific tools/methods in order to not lose the redbook audio.

I finally have CFW!!!

The first thing I tried was an homebrew arkanoid game, which worked flawlessly, and then a SNES emulator. It feels so wrong to play Super Mario on a PSP... and yet, it brings so much satisfaction :D

I can't wait to try all the cool things hackers have been doing with the PSP since it began.

I like to think of my PS3 as a $400 PSP accessory. I don't have to deal with video encoding crap because I've got Remote Play + PS3 Media Server + PlayOn. I also have an Archos player (with the exact same screen as a PSP 1000 I think) that can handle most avi files for when there's no wireless Internet.

About to make the plunge (Simply to play PS1 games in bed :p) and I was wondering whether I can play PS1 games with a Pandora's battery or do I need a normal battery as well?

quick question.

I want to be able to run a NES/SNES emulator to play my old SNES/NES games. What CFW should I upgrade to (I'm on 3.77 i believe) and what emulators?

I have a quick question.

I have a CFW PSP updated to the latest firmware. I want to download the demo for MHF Unite (through the PSN store on PC), but it's telling me that I have to update my firmware. Is there any way I can get around this?

Assuming you can download the file somehow, NPDecryptor should be able to strip out the firmware authentication.

I guess I can probably try to download it from my PS3 then.
Thanks a lot for the response.
One more thing, tho... is the program you pointed me to easy to use? I really only have basic knowledge in using computers and programs.

I think it's rather straightforward, as long as you follow the readme. You shouldn't have to use it, though, I have the latest CFW and just installed it through my PSP fine.

any answer on this?

Oh my god it took me four hours to get all of those official firmwares dumped and put into the proper place. I am loading my copy of vagrant story through the eboot converter. I hope to god this pays off...

Edit: What the fuck. It doesn't show up under Game. I copied the .eboot file to GAME/Vagrant Story

Should be /PSP/Game not /GAME

I fucking love you. However it says "This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted."

...sigh
Is the file named eboot.pbp? You said .eboot so that makes me wonder..

No it is eboot.pbp. Hmm, let me try popping in my copy of grandia and ripping it.

I ran RS-GUI in Windows 7. Could this screw up anything?

Ok, so to do a sanity check I found some random game called A-train. (Whatever the hell it is) Just converted it and it works.

Looks like my rip of Vagrant is bad. Now I am curious to figure out what the hell A-Train is.

Edit2: It's a train company train simulator by Maxis and some other company. What in the hell... :lol :lol :lol

Edit3: Got Vagrant working. I am in fucking heaven. I finally have the chance to catch up with my PS1 era games. What's the battery life like running the emulator?

Better than normal UMD games. I had no problems in playing several hours of Castlevania Symphony of the Night :D

One thing to keep in mind about PSOne games. Their paths (and especially their folder names) need to be kept relatively short.

ex:
ms0:/PSP/GAME/CASTLEVANIA - SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT/eboot.pbp will not launch.
ms0:/PSP/GAME/CV-SOTN/eboot.pbp likely will, assuming there's nothing wrong with the rip/eboot.

Didn't know that. Thanks.

One thing: when faced with compatibility issues, some sites refer to a specific Game ID you have to use. How do you do that? Is it using Popsloader? I see no option for that...

I use RS GUI PopStationMD v3 as my primary converter, and PSX2PSP 1.4.2 as my secondary converter. Both allow you to change the game ID.

I have a friend who recently out of the blue decided to install CFW on his long neglected PSP (which he now regrets in some instances), and now he too is in heaven playing Vagrant Story and Legend of Mana along with a host of SNES games. He takes it everywhere with him now. What a 360 turn. :lol

What error/firmware version?

I'm received a firmware error saying that i need to upgrade to the latest version. Same with the Patapon 2 demo :|

I need to do that .txt version trick or something don't i? How do I do that?

Edit: btw, i have 5.00 M33-6

Edit 2: Forget about it, just found a way! Would post link but dunno if it's bannable or not.

man if this new PSP Go! digital distribution model locks me out of using my PSP w/ CFW...I'll be freakin' pissed.

Sony isn't that stupid.

They have to know that doing that would basically be saying, "Hey everyone! We want you to pirate our games!"

How exactly would Sony engineering their digital distribution service to disallow what is, in their eyes, a piracy-enabling tool, be tantamount to them saying they want people to pirate their games?

the psp ripping scene's logic for ripping umd is that they didnt want to use the umd

i dont think they touched the digital distro for psn for psp because you dont need the umd

Alright so I've been out of the PSP custom firmware scene for awhile, but I want to update my PSP 1000 to the latest M33 firmware. I'm currently on 3.71 M33-3...if anyone would be nice enough to tell me the steps to update to the latest version, I'd really appreciate it.

It was a number error (I don't remember the number), not a firmware error. I Googled it, and after a while I found that I needed to disable Game plugins in the Advanced Recovery Menu. Don't know why, but it worked.

nah, it's been cracked for over a year, according to google.

Isn't it obvious?

It's just like PSP firmware updates. People know that they won't be able to get custom firmware for awhile if they update the firmware, so they don't do it.

People will know that if they use the store, their custom firmware will be removed (or they won't be able to use the store at all), so instead of buying new games from the store (which will be the only option if UMD games are phased out) they'll just pirate those games.

That's pretty loose logic, considering that anyone can rip their own UMDs without much difficulty. The process is easier than installing the CFW.

Also, I know there is a cracked version of Everyday Shooter, and I presume there are cracked versions of other digital distro games.

I can't even download a demo (Monster Hunter) from the PC Media Manager for PSP, it says I need a firmware update. Is this normal?

I am not sure since I use a PS3 to get my PSP demos. Try downloading straight to psp? I've gotten games I did not have the f/w for that way.

I have the version checker block plugin on my hacked PSP, so demos and the like can be downloaded from the PC Media Manager.
