I know it's not the best thread to ask this, but its the only one active about PSP.

Where could I find Sony promo ads like this but only for PSP, with PSP in focus and not the games?

Can somebody help me out with MVSPSP? I have a PSP-2000, with CFW 6.60.

I have other emulators and they work fine, but whenever I go to my memory card, the MVSPSP shows up as a corrupted file. Can somebody give me a step by step to get it working? Thanks!!
 
It probably isn't supported by 6.60.

Maybe this will work, I'm not sure since I just did a light search of "MVSPSP 6.60".

Maybe the PlayStation blog has them, if you search for just PSP by tag or something.
 
I haven't updated the firmware on my PSP-Go in a while, so I have some questions!

Did TV-out fullscreen ever become an option? I bought the stupid dock with Component output so it would be good to give it a proper go sometime.

Did any of the emulators ever gain the ability to download directly from dropbox or other websites, etc? This was especially useful with GBA4iOS on iPhone.

Was there ever any workaround to having to switch PSN login? I have 3 different PSN accounts for different regions, and it sucks to have to link with the PS3 every time I want to switch to the different content that I've bought.
 
so 6.60 pro c-3 can use 64gb of microsd automatically?

i am looking to purchase an adapter and microsd.


also, my tactics ogre save was corrupted, probably because i went from 5.00 m33 to 6.60 pro c-3. what is the vsh plugin to fix my save? i got 187 hours in that game...
 
I'm on 6.60 Pro soft-mod, can I switch to 6.6.1 lme or me (phat 1000)? Do I need to upgrade to 6.6.1 first? Is it impossible to go from -Pro to lme/me and I should just run 6.6.1-Pro? Thanks, sorry for the newbie questions and I hope this thread is still read by someone. :)

Edit: figured it out, 6.6.1me worked!
 
So, OP is out of date as hell.

What is the difference between Pro CFW and (L)ME? What are the advantages of one over the other? I've seen some stuff mentioned but I don't really know enough about CFW stuff to get it.


It looks like Pro-C2 was recompiled and fixed (PS1 games aren't broken), and it's an option for 6.61, as is ME/LME.

Yes, UO fba4psp - a very good arcade emulator that somehow inexplicably never got enough coverage. It can play esprade, dodonpachi, guwange etc extremely well, and was even able to boot up Street fighter 3: third strike on psp 2000s (but with low framerate).

IMO this is the best emulator on the psp hands down

they're different CFWs. the Zett (who is something of a cfw guru) seems to greatly prefer L/ME, so I'd go with that.
 
Since the op is very old and I'm not quite sure what to do, I'd like to ask you: I have bouht Tear Ring Saga and would like to play it on my PSP with the English patch. I already have an EBOOT of it from the internet (ripping the game myself doesn't make it any more legal in Germany, because it's still circumventing a copy protection), and I have a PSP on firmware 6.39 as well as a fitting USB cable. If necessary I could also access a computer that can read PSP memory cards. I'm not interested in any other hacking stuff, I just want to play this game as comfortable as possible. What should I do to the PSP to get to run the game?

Sounds like a piracy post so I'm not going to endorse anything here, but you want to run your PS1 images through IceTea to get a proper eboot of it. You then throw that into your PSP\GAME folder on your memory stick. Assuming that firmware you have has a proper PopStation plugin, it should show up on your XMB.

Try updating though because that is an older firmware.

Piracy of a game I own that is just Japanese and I cannot understand in its original language... I just said that I downloaded the EBOOT instead of creating it myself, because it does not make a difference in Germany, legally, and is more comfortable than ripping the game, patching it and reading into how to create an EBOOT.
 
Thank you for your help so far, but the problem is, that my system is completely unmodified so far, so of course, Tear Ring Saga will not load (copy protection). The post basically was about what "hacking procedure" is necessary to get it to run.
 
I'm on CFW 6.60 Pro on a PSP slim 2001, I bought a bunch of PS1 Classics and a few other PSP games as part of the Flash sale, I used the web store because I didn't want to chance missing out on the sale. So now I go to the PS store on my PSP and I get "A connection error has occurred 80435061." Is there CFW for 6.61 or am I hosed for accessing PS Store on my PSP unless I copy over from my account using a PS3?

Probably just need to update, there is 6.61 Pro and LME available.
 
WEP is the only thing that system supports.

You can get online access if you have a phone and set it to tether. However, since WEP isn't as secure as other WiFi options, it's probably for the best not to connect for more than a while anyway.

I figured WEP was still all there was, so dumb. Can I tether using an IPhone 4?
 
OH CRAP, I can't believe this, did I just brick my PSP 2001 slim system?? So I downloaded this CFW 6.61 file from the forum link on wololo.net:

I put the updater eboot into my game folder just like last, loaded and got the typical scrolling black screen saying it was installing 6.61. After that I see a message telling me to press X, I do so then alsomost right away get a little message saying (not verbatim) "6.61 installed, reboot. :) " (yes with a smily on the end) So I push X again even though it didn't tell me too just in case. So I figure, OK, I need to do hard reboot, so I hold down power and my screen goes black and I swear the screen make a crisp "click" noise and turned off. Now the system doesn't want to seem to turn back on, I just get a green power light or orange charge light but no response from the system, am I hosed??

.....I was able to unbrick my slim 2001. By holding down Home, Select, Star, Square and Triangle while powering on I was able to resurrect my syste. Wipes sweat from brow

6.61 Pro was not installed unlike what that message said and now my system firmware just says 6.60 as if it were set to official and my homebrew apps won't boot now.

Edit: OK, so now my system will only turn back on if I do the trick mentioned above. If I hard power off, the green power light will come on with no display or response and can only bring back the system again if hold down Home, Select, Star, Square and Triangle while powering on. So something messed up happened to my system since I installed that 6.61 file. Any thoughts? :/

FINAL EDIT: OK, reinstalled 6.60 Pro and everything is back to normal. Homebrew/emulators work again and my system reboots normally, what a relief. I'm just going to go to a friend's house and copy my new PS1 Classic purchases from his PS3's shop over to my PSP's memory card. My PSP shouldn't need 6.61 just to copy purchased PS1 games from a PS3, right?
 
Did you not install 6.61 before you tried to install the CFW? You have to update first.

I know Vita needs to be updated to transfer from PS3. Not sure about PSP.

Oh, you have to install official 6.61 first? No I didn't, I was paranoid it might undo my homebrew somehow. Now I feel dumb because 6.60 official was required to install 6.60 Pro but that was a long time ago when I did that and I forgot that bit. So install official 6.61, then 6.61 Pro, and I'll be able to access shop and all my homebrew will be fine?

Yeah, installing 6.61 OFW didn't delete or break anything for me, but I don't have anything "deeply" modded, just ripped games and some apps in my games section. That stuff shows up as corrupted files or whatever in OFW, but once you get CFW running again it all works again.

I should have been more clear before. When I mentioned installing 6.61 I meant OFW, then re-install CFW. Glad there were no lasting issues for your PSP.

No problem, if anything it was a good, tough learning experience for me to pay even more attention to what I'm loading onto my memory stick next time. And I don't even have any of my games ripped, I still just use my UMDs (always prefer physical when possible) and except for a few indie games like the PSP hombrew version of Cave Story, all of my programs are emulators. Anyways, like I said this time I'm just gonna play it safe and log into a friend's PS3 and copy my PSN stuff over that way.
 
I got my old pop 1000 out of a box. Updated it to 6.60 ME-1.8. But I don't think it's the latest firm ware ? What is the latest recommended one ?

Still not sure what 6.61 did, I was under the impression it was for Brandish since it came out at the same time, but it was mentioned you could run Brandish on 6.60.

There are at least a couple CFW versions for 6.61 though, including Pro (with a few extra features over 6.60).
 
I've been going through and softmodding my old consoles to back my collection up, and my PSP is next up on the list.

What is the most up-to-date guide to setting a PSP up to rip UMDs? My PSP 3000 is pretty old and I am concerned about the UMD drive dying. I assume you install CFW depending on the OFW version (I have 6.60) and then a ripping program. Most of the results I saw on Google are from 2010 or older, so I really want to know I am getting the most recent versions of things.
 
You don't have to install any ripping tools. You just install the CFW and change the USB mode from Memory Stick to UMD. Then you connect your PSP to the computer and your system sees it as a disc drive with a single ISO file on it. You have to change the USB mode back to Memory Stick to put the file on the console itself.

If you are looking to rip them directly to your card, then I can't be of any help.

Nah, I don't mind transferring. I also have an import game I want to put a translation patch on (Valkyria Chronicles 3), so I think I have to transfer to my PC anyway to apply the patch.
 
As Accoun said, just softmod your PSP using the guide in the OP, it's super easy.

Normally, when you connect your PSP to a PC, the PC sees a Memory Stick storage device. Press "select" on your PSP to bring up the CFW menu, and redirect an internal pointer from the Memory Stick to the UMD drive. Now your PC sees an ISO sitting in a non-writable storage device. Go ahead and back up all of your games to your PC.

Change the pointer back to "Memory Stick" when you're done, load up a big Memory Stick (or get one of those adapters that lets you use microSD in the Memory Stick slot), and put all the ISO's on your Memory Stick. When you're running CFW, the PSP sees those ISO's as legit games.

If you install ISO Tool (and by "install" I mean "put on the Memory Stick after you CFW your PSP"), it can copy PSP ISOs directly from the UMD drive to the Memory Stick. Then you can move ISOs around between the Memory Stick and your PC.

Both methods are super easy.
 
This weekend "Project Infinity" was released, which makes it possible to install "permanent CFW" on devices where you previously had to manually boot into CFW each time you restarted the system. I just installed it on my PSP Go, which had been tucked away for two years or so. Boy, the colors of that display blew me away once again!

I don't have PSP yet, but can i use it on any frame ware?

I have no knowledge of the PSP stuff,can i do from official frame ware with nothing else?

Rad. But why use this over using the "temp" CFW flasher?
 
Would this make me able to log in and download stuff from the PSS (you can still access the purchase list, just not buy anything, right?)? I bought my PSP already with CFW (6.20, or whatever was the last permanent/pseudo-permanent version) and I haven't been able to to download anything that isn't a trailer.

None (to my knowledge) except the added convenience. Ah yes, there was a note about a new "brick recovery" mode added by the Infinity FW.

Not sure, I haven't had a router with the low security required to connect a PSP since they added the PS Store to the FW. There should be a way to get your purchased downloads via a PS3 connection, right?
