Sony has said that the PSP software update out now for Japanese PSPs will be released for North American PSPs on August 12th.
The PSP's 2.0 software update adds an internet browser as well as other functions such as picture sharing, wallpapers, audio/video playback enhancements and other minor updates. If you are an owner of a North American PSP then we advise that you do not update with the Japanese software as according to Sony this will void your warranty.
Those who wish to update their PSP on August 12th can do so by connecting wirelessly to their access point and update directly onto the PSP, or you can download the update to a PC and then transfer the update to the PSP with a USB cable.
The update will be made available from the official PSP site on August 12th.
