Hell is Us Demo Coming to Consoles - August 12th

Enjoy

I loved the PC demo that was released earlier in the year

Downloading it as we speak. Will post impressions / pics later.

I have no idea what kind of game this is lol, if it's another Souls-like, I'm probably gonna leave it at the demo and not consider the full game.

It is similar controls as a souls game for the combat, but that's about it. It's 50% exploration/puzzles and 50% combat. And it's not really a bonfire, lose crap, stats, type game. The enemies don't even respawn from the save points.

Sounds more like a traditional character-action driven game. Much better.

Been cautiously optimistic about this game because it looks damn good. The fact that they're dropping a demo is a very good sign IMO, planning on checking it out today or tomorrow.

Stuck away from my home until Friday.

Need your juicy deets asap.

Where did you read that?
PSN, when trying to download it says not available > only when having ps Plus essential. So I subbed to these fucking bastards to be able to download... Disgusting, like I said. But I guess I'm the moron here for doing it 🤦‍♂️

edit
I'm in Germany if that makes any difference

Bitch Slap Slapping GIF

I met the dev back when they were Deus Ex team and you couldn't be more wrong. They're just making a game they wanted to make and that Square-Enix either wouldn't have financed or put so many marketing peoples around the meetings to leash the creatives that it would have veered into some GAAS shit.

They're authentic as can be

You sound like an asshole with that comment to be honest
Man I had no idea this was the ex deus ex team. I loved those games even if they weren't as well received as I would have hoped. This just got me even more excited for the game. Not even going to bother with the demo and I've barely watched any footage.

The fact that it's the ex-Deus Ex devs gives me quite the boner, and so I'm anticipating this. Everything I'm hearing about this game is good news to me. So, I'm hoping the game is actually good. Waiting for some impressions of the demo since I'm stuck at work for the day.

Of course not whole team of Deus Ex but Jonathan Jacques-Belletête was the visual designer behind both Montreal Eidos Deus Ex games and is leading Hell is Us team, but I know for a fact that Eidos MTL has been bleeding talent since Square enix and embracer group and some are in Rogue factor studio. Like Francois Lapikas who was also a designer for both Deus Ex is now there for example.

What console did you play on? Performance? Multiple quality options?

PS5 vanilla. Fidelity/performance options. I always go for fidelity. In this case, I'd recommend performance, because graphics aren't that great and IMO extra smoothness is needed for combat in this game.

3 difficulty settings. Normal seems challening enough (just played 1 hour, it takes a few tries to get the hang of it)

I was really interested on this game, but I couldn't finish the demo.

I love soulslike games, but it didn't work for me on this game. I think if it was a tps survival horror I would love it.

The story and setting seems cool, the puzzles were ok, but I hated the combat and enemy design.

Anyway, I played on base ps5 and it ran perfectly, good graphics and performance.

Performance on PC is much better than the earlier demo. I just wanted to confirm that by downloading it and its much much better.

They have capped 30 fps cutscene though and if you have framegen by default it fucks up with artifacts of course as there's just not enough frames. Disabling it though even in gameplay I hit ~75-80 fps with ultra settings.

So, we enjoying this?

Is it PS5 PRO enhanced?

Btw, the demo is really the prologue. Apparently the game opens up big time after it and the locations get wild.

If you enjoyed the demo, rewatch these trailers and become extremely hyped like I am :D

So good

I don't see a difference using PSSR on or off. Wonder what actual PS5 Pro enhancements it actually has. Doesn't look like much, but I might get the game on release.

Cant wait to wake up from my siesta on September 4th to play the game

I played up until taking the APC to the Marshes so far and had to stop for now.

It's...pretty good and interesting so far but I definitely need to see how all these elements come together in the full game. It feels kind of like a hodgepodge of various games right now but something isn't fully blending for me yet. The Souls-ish combat feels odd in that world to me, I keep wanting to pull a fucking gun with L2 lol. All the elements are good on their own, like the combat doesn't feel bad or anything but it feels slightly rote right now.

There's a lot to like here though and I like the amount of Adventure game elements, detective/dialog elements and all that. I'm in Day 1 though and intrigued.

Alright. Played through the demo.

- It looks like a Souls-like.
- It controls like a Souls-like.
- It has diegetic world navigation / lore like a Souls-like

But the fact that it has select-able difficulty customization options is a big plus for me. Also enemies don't respawn whenever you use the manual save spots which is good.

The Pulse system is a bit finicky and I don't think I got a full hang of it, the 'pulses' either disappear too quickly or I'm just pressing RB at the wrong moments but it was a hit or miss for me.

Also the main protagonist is Aiden Pearce looking motherfucker with the Deus Ex voice and the Death Stranding poncho .. hopefully the final game has some visual customization options.
