PSP Go? 249.99!!!!

All over this. Everyone should have expected this price when it was discovered that this is to be the "premium" PSP.

I own one UMD and will gladly repurchase the game when it surfaces on the PSN (Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles). Otherwise, all of my PSP gaming is PSX classics and PSP downloads.

Can't wait, day one, etc etc etc. The smaller screen is going to make games look even sexier, and the weight/size reduction will make me actually start taking this out of my house.

no go... 250€.. hello?
Hopefully we'll be able to import from America and not suffer through the inanity of a region locked downloadable client.

You will be raped into poverty if you even consider buying it locally in Australia when it launches in 2012, sorry to say.

Pretty much. I still want one though. Maybe after a price drop I'll import one.

Are we sure about this? I mean this is just another thing that makes me think FAIL....

The specs are listed in the PSP go's press release at the SCEE Press Centre site.

Seriously, if this thing was a big driver for digital distribution, how about a competent download speed? I guess not. Fuck you Kaz.

what are you gonna do on the PSP that would benefit from 11g?

I was thinking faster download speed, maybe a little something called smoother PS3 Remote Play?

Can you imagine the R&D costs on this thing?

To rip out the UMD drive, cram the remaining components in a smaller case, and give the unit a sliding screen? I'm guessing it cost them a couple of pieces of day-old sushi and a can of Sapporo to get an engineer to work on it during his lunch breaks.

It's not as big of a deal as most people think. Yeah, $250 is way more than I thought it should be, but the old PSP will still be available, and people will just buy that if they don't want to pay $250.

Well it's probably a big deal for people like me who don't like the old PSP and want a Go. For 250 I can get a Wii, just saying.

16GB iPod Touch is $299. A 16GB PSP with same media capability and far greater game quality and selection for $249...not bad.

However, the price still sucks. I was hoping for $199.

I wonder when we'll hear about the battery life?

This is what occurred in my mind but with PSP having some great games and the fact the PSP Go looks good to me, I am going to bite and get it. :)

The press release also confirmed PS3 Dual Shock 3 can work on PSP go. For watching video content only but we'll see if they take it farther.
Probably not. =_=

1. The Go isn't for people who have a library of UMDs
2. It's a new, small, premium Sony device - expect that in the price

Like i said in another thread, i expected about $230, and this isn't far from that. What price were people expecting?

People get unnecessarily hyped up every time a new hardware revision is expected, as they might finally have an excuse to upgrade to a shiny new toy. This isn't an upgrade. This is for people like myself who want a more portable PSP, don't have a library of UMDs or don't want to have to carry a dozen UMDs with them. If that's not you, then the Go isn't for you. The PSP-3000 is a great device and it's roughly the same price as the Go if not a little cheaper even with a 16GB M2 card.

The price of the Go will eventually come down as the downloadable game catalog goes up. It'll slowly make sense to those who don't mind not having tangible copies. They'll still be people who prefer the larger PSP-3000 form factor, and that form factor will likely be available for some time.

Edit: i will say this -- i'd kill for a capacitive touch screen on this. It would make so much sense when the Go's closed. i'm sure that if it's a success that we'll see a touch screen Go Plus or whatever in a couple of years. It'll be a premium product.

Exactly. The Go is a much better PSP.

I'm well aware of your seething hatred of UMD's (and those who like them), but giving people less options for a higher price is indefensibly stupid, and it's sad to watch you try to spin things otherwise. If the Go! was debuting at $199.99, I might feel differently. A size reduction and 16 MB of internal storage does nothing to justify a $50 price increase, especially when they're removing hardware in the process.

The price is about where I was expecting. May trade my PSP for it. Despite all of the complaints, you'll see a ton of PSP Gos in the pick up thread when it's released.

SOLD. Day 1.

Not exactly a shocker, the consensus among those of us with common sense was $249.

You wanted to know how they would keep retail interested in a DD only device? Well, there's your answer.

yeah, I pretty much knew that would be the price too.....

PSP-3000 = 170
16gb mem stick = 70
~ 240

But I just thought they wanted to reinvigorate the brand by getting a non-hacked version out there to jump start sales digitally

Anyway, compared to an iPod, that ain't a bad price. But I do think they should consider an 8GB $199 version or something.

I might just import. in the uk 249.99 euros is 215 quid, while $249.99 is £150. Only 13 pounds more then the PSP 3000

nv.

As I said before. 229$ for Value/entertainment pack was my top price for this. Paying 100$ on top of PSP is way to much.

Sony probably sees the ipod touch as a more direct competitor than the DSi. That kinda explains the price ($229 ipod touch 8 gig/$299 ipod touch 16 gig). It's still a stupid move on their part to price this thing more expensive than the PSP. Unless of course it's all a carefully crafted scheme designed to move more original PSP's.

And now it's the same hardware.

Also, 16 gigs isn't that much these days. It's pretty cheap.

I agree... but where were you fuckers when Nintendo announced 512mb of internal memory for Wii?

I know, lining up around the corner to get one.

Still, without a touchscreen or any no way to play my already owned disc media, it's priced too high.

I was all aboard the PSP GO! When I thought it was a least $199 or less. But at almost $100 more than a regular PSP?!!

FUCK.

THAT.

SHIT!

Hell, You can still download games on an old PSP. Sony, why must you work so hard at failing?!

well, if your downstream is > 11mbit, yeah, the wifi would be an improvement, but i don't see how it would help remote play.

That screen is one good fall away from disaster but yes it does look much better than the actual Go.

i'm not trying to be an asshole, but i wear pants that fit, that is, they're aren't baggy nor are they tight. Aside from a couple of pairs of old cargo pants i wear on occasion to work in, i don't have any pockets big enough to fit a PSP in.

Yeah I don't have a PSP but I can fit my cellphone, car keys and ipod in one pocket easily. Must be people wearing tight ass jeans.:lol

that's what i said, but then apparently, that means i'm 350lbs with a size 60 waist or something...

that's the best defense they can come up with.
