Yea, honestly, it was too low toward the base of the unit on the old ones. I prefer the DualShock-esque layout, because my thumb will have a little room to stretch. Plus it keeps the d-pad and analog APPROXIMATELY the same distance, so my thumb won't have to adjust too much between the two. (Less cramping, more rotating...which I'd prefer, personally)

Really? I played it on PS3, and I like it, but I feel like without the 2nd analog it wouldn't hold its own. Either way, it's a hell of a game. But yea, it'd be nice if they included SOMETHING to play with upon unboxing it. (I don't want a promotional PSP Go video loaded on my PSP Go when I open the box, for example. Take note, Sony...)
 
So I got my PSP-2000 from the $50 off Dell deal today, it was $130 total including shipping. Sony can keep the PSP Go, I paid half the price that the Go is going to cost and I can run custom firmware on my device.

Jonathan Mak's probably a weird dude for only using the face buttons, but that comes more natural to him. The experience of Everyday Shooter to me is all about the sound, so playing the game without having to buy an expensive set of 5.1 surround sound headphones to get that sound in me is a big plus.

And holy shit can everybody who hates the PSP go's price point just shut up about getting a cheaper slim PSP to spite Sony or whatever? Good for you, you got a slim PSP for supremely cheap, Sony still sold a PSP. Oh but you're gonna pirate games on it? Sony and game developers don't care about you anyway.

Yea I'm sick of hearing the "CFW" claims. First off, it's possible to make custom firmware for ANYTHING. You could make one for your damn toaster if you knew what you were doing. (That would be a bit easier, but you get my point) If the people interested and capable want to, they'll make custom firmwares.

The price point? If you already own a PSP why do you care? I don't. That's why I'm going to get what I think is the best one, because the Go will fit my hands better (larger hands, not smaller!) and I wouldn't use UMDs anyway, so why have the drive? Whatever, I'll enjoy my Go. And I won't share : p

Will we even be getting any colors other than piano motherfucking black? Sony always waved around other-colored PSPs and we barely got anything here. That thumbstick placement really seems strange to me, I'll definitely want to get my hands on a demo model before purchasing to see how comfortable that will be, but sizing it along the lines of the iPhone's a pretty sweet deal -- should go a long way to making the PSP more... portable.

Also, guy in picture seriously needs to cut his fucking nails before getting his hands photographed. :p

I hope it's just the pic. Silver slim has the same sparkliness but you hardly notice.

It looks ridiculous. So, it's either Piano Black PSP Go, or Piano Black 2000/3000...

Yeah, I thought it was going to be more of a ceramic white, which is why I was all over it at the beginning. Seeing the black PSPgo next to the iPhone, though, makes it an easy decision: black it is

I'll wait and see. I love my 2000, and I play PSP so much that I know I'd get use out of a Go. I liked my widescreen and Custom Firmware on my 2000 so much though!

Does the Sony store have demos of these already or are these pictures from somewhere else? There's a Sony Style store near me, that's why I ask.

I actually really like that, looks funky. Probably on my own though.
 
I'm going to buy the white one anyway. The black one doesn't look as slick as the white does, and like the Silver PSP, in light it will look sparkly, but in regular use, it will appear normal.

Except according to Sony the battery life is pretty much the same.


PSP Go Battery life same as old model

Now, add into the fact that you can't remove the battery, so if it fails, you have to send the whole unit into Sony, instead of just purchasing a new battery.

I also don't see the added portability. Since I got my first PSP back at launch, I've been to Japan, Qatar, Iraq, Montana and have flown god knows how many miles. Both my 1k and 2k PSPs have been right there with me the whole time.
 
What kind of apps could we see for the PSP Go?

I don't have a Touch/iPhone, so I'm not sure what useful apps that could be used as examples as to what we could see on the Go. Of course nothing that requires input from a touchscreen.

Perhaps an email app that let's you keep an email program on your PSP so you can check your mail while at work or at any other WIFI spot?

In that case why not just get a smart phone (iPhones aren't the only ones). That way instead of carrying two devices, you're only carrying one.

I really don't see the PSP Go working in that type of environment. I have a Windows mobile phone, I'm not going to carry two devices when one works just fine.

Also, I'd hate to navigate something like an e-mail program without a touch screen.

While I agree that the PSP doesn't necessarily belong in that sort of environment, I have to disagree that another smartphone is always a viable solution. Those data plans (over time) can be expensive!!!

But yea, no reason it couldn't have an e-mail-over-wifi application of some sort. Or even something like Outlook, to download e-mail when at a wifi hotspot, and save them for viewing later...
 
My worry with the Go is that it would break in half while I'm playing Prinny and fighting the last boss on hell's finest.

Anyone who played Prinny knows that you need to button mash like crazy and this thing looks so fragile and thin.... Otherwise I think it looks pretty awesome!
 
Can someone tell me why they put a wifi switch and not just make it an option that you can turn on/off on the XMB menu thing? My PSP's wifi switch is so sensitive, it turns the wifi antenna off by itself which pisses the hell out of me and PSPgo has the same placement as my PSP1000....FUCK! Only think keeping me back from buying, im serious.

I don’t happen to have a cell phone, never have and don’t plan on one any time soon. I just don’t talk to that many people on the phone and voice / data plans are very expensive. So I wouldn’t have two devices to begin with.

Secondly I think the device in a closed position seems well suited for just about any environment, it looks very similar to an iPhone/Touch.

I also think simply navigating a program such as an email app would be rather easy with the Go, but replying to an email would however NOT be as easy as “typing.” Though I must admit I’ve become very fast with the text editor on the PS3 (granted, that’s usually just one or two lines of text and not always perfectly formatted).

Basically I am torn between a Touch and a Go. The Go benefits by having the ability to play games, the Touch benefits from having a touch screen and presumably more robust apps (thanks to a better interface).

I like the black in the closed position, but the white in the open position. You're probably right about the sparkles, though. In videos it was hard to tell unless there was direct light or a flash from a camera.

theoretically it shouldnt matter about the placement because you wont be holding the unit the same way you hold a traditional PSP, which would eliminate the mistake off/on of the wifi switch.

I would think so since it's tied to your PSN account and you'd be able to move your PSP games to the Go.

Eh, I hope you are right. And to be more precise, my hand's grip doesnt flip the switch down. Like the switch itself is so sensitive to the touch that a since tap to it will turn the wifi antenna off without having the push it down. I just hope this BS doesnt occur to the Go.
 
Sony needs to explain the details of their "Good Will Program" ASAP.

I'm reaching the point where I will not buy ANY PSP games between now and October until I know FOR A FACT I will be able to play them on my shiny new Go.

They have finally gotten their act together with the PS1 games, and have been adding at least a game a week for the last 6 weeks (usually 2). They promise 50 more games this year, and I don't see why they would not reach that goal.
 
I really do like the white, but I'm afraid it would show smudges and dirt more readily than the black one. Though, it's not a matte white (I think) like a DS, so maybe it would be as bad concerning that as a white DS.

Yeah this also an issue for me. I know at some point i will buy this device (not first day but in the near future for sure). So what can i do from now on, i guess no more UMD and 100% digital download on my 100 till i buy the Go!. But will i be able to transfer this digitaly purchased games later on on the PSPGO!? I mean the Psn registers the PSP 1000 as My device, but will they allow me to add the Go?. Dunno to many q.

I don't see why not? It's the same software inside for the most part, and those digital games you buy are connected to your PSN account so you can re-download them (Up to 5 times I think)

There's no limit to the number of re-downloads as far as I can gather. It's the systems you put your PSN account on that is the limited factor.

Well, of the 90 games that will be available at the end of the year, how many of them are worth it ?
Buying a PSP only for PS1 games is worthless right now, and even by the end of the year.

I'm just buying all my games via DD PSN now, since they're tied to my PSN account anyway there will be no problem for me when the Go comes out.
