When I play my PSP powered by the AC adaptor (not on batteries) and with the headphones, I hear a disturbing "loud buzz" kind of sound. If I play on batteries there is not buzzling sound.

Is it normal ?

Nope, it should sound exatcly the same regardless of the AC adaptor.

My first unit had that static noise, especially bad during Wipeout Pure.

That happens with my mp3 player when its hooked upto my speakers and im powering it by the ac. So i dont think your psp is faulty.

I should also clarify. I was getting a static noise even out of the speakers.

The same things happens to mine when it's being charged. It's not bad enough to warrant a return, but I have noticed it.

i only have a high pitched sound when using the power brick to charge the psp (the sound comes from the psp not the powerbrick). when using the AC there's no sound.

Hope i don't wake people when i'm in an airplane.

Just tried playing WO Pure with the AC Adaptor and without, and I hear no unusual sounds one way that I don't hear the other. Certainly no buzzing or interference.

I play my PSP with batteries and with the charger and never noticed any differences....

My PSP would buzz while playing an mp3 or during games every so often. Putting the machine on standby and bringing it out of standby got rid of the noise.

Sounds like a dirty AC line. i won't delve into it much further because i've forgotten most of AC electronics, but it's fairly common to hear a slight buzz through speakers when powered by AC. There's line cleaners that you can plug in your socket to clean the noise out, but it's likely something that needs to be fixed with your home's internal wiring.
