Ridge Racer, Lumines, Twisted Metal et al. Batteries. Large capacity memory sticks.

Hardware sellout or no, there is a huge shortage of PSP sundries. Anyone explain the memory stick situation yet?

I honestly believe third and first parties totally fucked up their shipping numbers for software.

Reminds me of DC launch, when VMUs and copies of certain games (Soul Calibur and Power Stone being the ones I remember offhand) were in short supply and sold out most places.

Lumines, Ridge Racer, and batteries seem to be the only things sold out or in short supply here. 1GB Pro Duo cards were hard to come by well before the PSP launch, so those don't really count. 128, 256, and 512M cards are easy to find.

Given the advance buzz, I don't know why they didn't make/ship more Lumines. Our local Gamestop got ONE COPY of it. I couldn't believe it. They had stacks of the EA stuff no one really wants. Ditto Ridge Racer. Very few copies, even though it's one of the best-looking and playing games on the system and isn't a consumer-raping $49, but rather a system-correct $39.

Oh, well.

The insecurities of PSP and DS fanboys are pathetic.

This is why OT>Gaming.

Yeah, I noticed that too since I came to gaming-age.
I left gamefaqs for this? :lol

Still better than gamefaqs though.

Sandisk? Haha. Try finding Sony's new High Speed Pro Duo or Sandisk's Ultra 4 Pro Duo. It's simply impossible outside of the overpriced auctions on ebay.

Geez, look at Amazon's ETA:

Estimated ship date for this item: April 25, 2005 - May 9, 2005

EB was sold out of PSPs, and Best Buy had only games I wasn't interested in. Other than that I haven't run into any problems. Most places here seem to have plenty of stock.

I would have gladly paid $150 for the 1 gig stick if I could find it. However, I will probably just have to settle for a 512 stick, which are also hard to find....

You'd have to be an insane billionaire to buy any Sony brand Memory Stick.
Well, apparently the world is full of f'n insane billionaires then >:(

Sony's High Speed and Sandisk's Ultra 4 are more expensive, but apparently they DO offer higher transfer speed, so that justifies the price to me.

Wow, this thread has made me a believer!

Look, some of you really need to stop defending the PSP's admittedly unspectacular sales. For Christ's sake, Sony doesn't pay you to do this, so just stop.

Sales of this thing will pick up in time, I'm fairly sure of that (it's too good not to).

I would pay it for high speed digital phoitography, but pro duo is plenty fast for Mp3s and MP4s for me.

This is exactly the situation I'm in. I'd rather not buy an $85 512 now AND a gig stick in six weeks, but it's hard to resist.
