Remasters that Everyone wants but publishers won't touch, why?

Rygar. Cause they're too scared lil pussies.
and Tenchu

Well there was that Rygar PS2 game which was pretty good iirc. I have a copy somewhere.

Legend of Dragoon because Sony are a bunch of pussies.
Edit: I didn't mention it at first because several already have but, Vagrant Story as well. SE supposedly want a more mature "darker" themed game (then give us the travesty that is FF 16) when they have the perfect setting for that already. I really wish they would give us more, either in a new game or remake/remaster as I would love to return to Leà Monde.

Lost Odyssey for the 360--the best FF game of the PS3/360 era, hands down, and one of the better FF games that wasn't called FF ever.

Wouldn't mind a sequel as well, if I'm being greedily honest.

The original Puzzle Quest.
No freemium bullshit. Just the original, with the original gameplay.
I´m still mad that my iOS version doesn´t work anymore.

wow! thats a game I haven't heard in a while but 100% with you, the original was soooo good, so imagine my disappointment when they turned it into a mobile/freemium type of game.

Sakaguchi already was more and more hands off during the development of the later PS1 and early PS2 Final Fantasies, so it's not like there wasn't any precedent.

Sure, but I'm referring to the NES/SNES FF games that have been rereleased/remastered a million times since Sakaguchi left.

True. Ironically, according to Sakaguchi himself, FF9 is his personal favorite and the FF that captures the "essence of FF". So I do actually hope that if the rumors about Square touching FF9 are true, they do go and ask for advice from Sakaguchi.

But I do have to say, and maybe that is just my impression, that Xenogears feels more like a personal project than the NES/SNES FF games. Vagrant Story feels like that, too.

If we are talking specifically remasters.. then just a bunch of 360/ps3 games. If remakes tho i cant fathom how we havent gotten a remake for the original Deus Ex

This thread is dedicated to remasters of games that are long past, that people want, but publishers refuse to touch. Games that are cherished and would guarantee to at least make more than they cost to port (not talking remakes here but remasters, think Suikoden 1 & 2 Collection, Castlevania dominus collection, bioshock collection, etc...)

I want to know what games did you love, but can't play without emulation, but would love to play on modern machines (for me that's the switch or switch2 for portability)
Also what games did you miss that you would like to try with a remaster? Also why do you want it and what makes it special to you?

Thoughts on why these haven't been done yet?

My small list:
1. Mega man legends 1 2, and Tronn Bonne (The first two I loved on ps1, the 2nd I haven't played. I sold all my ps1 games for peanuts in 2001, a collection of just about every black label jrpg )
2. Skies of Arcadia - Never played this but heard it was great. Didn't have the hardware
3. Road Rash Genesis games and 3d/jailbreak. - EA is holding on to a treasure trove, assholes!
4. Parasite Eve 1 and 2 , the 3rd Birthday(psp game) - yeah these are being shit on by Square, ridiculous.
5. Vagrant Story - Another Squaresoft masterpiece lost to time.
6. Vandal Hearts 1 and 2 - Konami Srpgs that will never see the light of day.
7. Wii classics collection - Little Kings Story, Muramasa the Demon Blade (I got both versions on my vita and wife's wii but that isn't ideal, I love both).
8. No One lives forever 1 and 2 - why is this lost to time?
9. Freelancer - Microsoft owns this, what gives?
10. Early 2000s 3dfx horror collection - Alice , Alice Madness returns , Undying - more ea games left to die

Squaresoft has a tone of games in their ps1 library that they just sit on. Gathering dust. Why? Parasite eve, Vagrant Story, Brave Fencer Musashi, Bushido Blade. It seems if its not Final Fantasy, Mana, or Dragon Quest, they dgaf.

EA - EA has to be holding and hoarding the biggest collection of classics to date and its not even close. These f'ers have so many games that I would love modern versions for or console ports. Other publishers make a few extra for collections and remasters, hell we got Gothic 1 and 2 on the switch, but we can't get Road Rash or Alice? Black and white? I don't get it.

Konami- Rerelease silent hill games there are so many stuck, vandal hearts, etc..
Capcom - they release GBA games that most never played (there is what 5 mega man battle network games but they refuse to touch Legends? Why? These games already had a psp re-master, but even then they refused to port it to the USA and it stayed in Japan. Why?

Sega - Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi - why hold back? (Also speaking of Crazy Taxi, what happened to Simpsons hit and run and road rage. I own both for ps2 but come on , easy money! )

Luckily for PC games, most work going back decades to the 1980s and if not fixes come out. I can still play Thief the dark project and even on the steam deck. Console games not so much, but there are some games on pc that aren't that easy. Games that were delisted or never were digital (nolf and nolf2 come to mind).
Just want to say, sir, that you have excellent taste.

Parasite Eve 2 is one of my all-time favorites. What a mood.
MM Legends - loved it.
Vandal Hearts? Sure, FF Tactics is fine, but VH had charm in spades. Again, a total mood piece, and I loved the game front-to-back.
Vagrant Story? Its presentation was awe-inspiring. Shame I never finished it - the gameplay was a little less than awe-inspiring.

One of the better Arkham games. RCS was a good choice for Batman.
Roger is awesome. It's a bit weird at first hearing Chris as Batman, but after a while you forget that and just appreciate he's one of the best VAs in the business.
Jenson Ackles from Supernatural and The Boys mentioned that he recorded for Origins before being replaced with Roger.

Gutted that Capcom replaced him in Resident Evil.

I'm pretty sure a Fallout 3 and especially New Vegas (considering the 2nd season of the show) remaster would make bank. For fans and newcomers alike. It doesn't even have to be a from the grounds up remake or whatever. Just a barebones port with just higher resolution and frame-rate. I beg you, Bethesda :messenger_crying: :messenger_crying:

A PGR collection would be great but will likely never happen (just PGR2 I'd be find with).

Rogue Squadron collection would be fire.

Fatal frame games.... And....

The game is somewhat limited, with investigations, like a horror fairground ride, and puzzle-solving, but it uses horror sublimely and fits in with J-Horror.

One of the Wii's great gems, but one unfairly underrated by the journalists gaming.

This should be an absolute no-brainer in my book, remade using the very latest ND engine and expanded somewhat as I believe the story clocks out at a respectable 10hrs but I'd say 15-20hrs would be perfect, let's face it how many people have actually played this..

well according to wiki approx half a million which is nothing considering UC4 sold 18million so a remake would make absolute bank, I've never played it and I'm a huge fan of this series so it would be day1 for me and who doesn't want some old skool Drake and Sully adventures, ain't nobody wants to play Drakes bloody daughter or another girl boss outing, we want another Drake.
I'd take a enhanced port at this point. The only Uncharted game I've yet to play and they haven't missed with this series. Shame its stuck on a dead platform.

Also putting Jet Set Radio Future on there. Game deserves a proper re-release.

SE has been doing a lot of their older games over the past years. I hope they get to Vagrant Story, Xenogears and a bunch of their other PS1 catalog within time. I am assuming Parasite Eve won't make it due to licensing.

I truly do not understand why they have not remastered or rereleased Bloodborne yet. Unless Sony is waiting to release it for PS6 launch, just so they can ensure people will buy the console.

This is prob an obscure hot take, but what about blast corps from the N64? I think they could really make something cool and unique if they remastered it and gave it a new coat of paint.

The topic about remasters not happening, not re-remasters not happening this year.

I explain why they won't release, you should read that.

And the collection is not a remaster. And there was rumors before about the collection getting a proper remaster.

It says "remastered in high definition" on top, you should read that.

But anyway, they remastered all three games, they are playable on PS5 with various forms (via streaming if you have a Premium subscription for the first two, and already available on PSN for III), so yeah, I don't agree.

Lots of games have very vocal fans that make them seem bigger than they are. I don't think there is a market for stuff like Skies of Arcadia today. There barely ever was, in the first place.

If you listened to gaming forums, you'd think the Dreamcast was a mega beloved, highly successful console. In reality, it sold 9 million units lifetime. Nine.

Have you played the PS3 version? Can you play on PS5? Runs at 4k? VRR? Dolby Atmos? HDR? 120hz?

At this point I gonna consider this line of conversation a trolling.

Yep , me too

Goodbye kido.

Anw, GoW Collection Remastered. A proper one.

Would not waste so much resources, easy to do it (in comparison with a remake or a new game) and would be perfect for the 'Playstation Handheld' in the future.

But Sony hate the old Kratos. Is a know fact from consumers, unless they do a heavy censor in the entire franchise.

Command and Conquer games. The last one I played was Kane's Wrath, which I personally thought was fantastic.

Or........ a Sega Rally/Daytona/Outrun collection would actually be my dream game.
