Army open to replacing Microsoft as prime under 'IVAS Next,' industry sources say - Breaking Defense
“Microsoft fully intends and is prepared to compete for IVAS Next. We remain committed to delivering the industry’s best capabilities for our warfighters,” a company spokesperson told Breaking Defense.breakingdefense.com
It's getting off-topic, but if Microsoft couldn't provide a sufficient product, and also given the state of XR headsets in general... I don't think anyone else will be able to any quicker.
We'll get there in time (both the military use and consumer XR), but the sector is still very young (even taking into account things like Sony's HMZ-T series and Vuzix).
