The Atlantic article on it is pretty fascinating. More people in this thread should read it. And yeah, making fun of self-important rich people is humor that works all over the world.
can someone tell hyuna that i love her
I think the song is ok not exactly repeatable to me but it will be more interesting to see what he follows up with to see if he can really break into the american market with an album.
^ Yea, at the very least it cracks me up that the big labels in Korea have pushed barbie dolls and pretty boys towards the American market so hard for years without any success
I know little about Korean music, but I've checked out this guy's previous albums after hearing this Gangnam Style. He's not going anywhere to be honest in the US. He's talented, but I think this is just a one hit and done deal. I doubt he makes anything of it. The song itself is catchy, but it's really the video that makes it. It's just bloody great. You can watch it again and again. I will thank him for one other thing though; I have discovered, or should I say stumbled upon, a group called LeeSsang. Now, they are pretty awesome too. From following the news in Korea regarding psy and this song korea is all excited how psy has broken into the mainstream american market when their major music companies like sm entertainment, yg, etc, keep failing with their groups that they send to america to make it big.

Heyyyyyy, sexy ladyyy
That line seems out of place. Like it has no relevance to the rest of the lyrics.
Anyways the video is good and the song is pretty catchy. The way he does the "Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Opa" reminds me of the water levels in Mario or something.
It's funny because MC can probably actually afford the Gangnam Lifestyle.
This is a great article if you wanna get into it:

I was surprised it was played on mainstream radio here in socal.

Yep, it's like cancer.
You do realize that says way more about you than it says about the song, right?
Love the song. Love the video. Elevator guy's face is priceless.

The video is pretty funny, but the song pretty much sums up everyting i hate about Electronic music these days
/old man rant.

The reason they keep failing to break into the US market is that they don't keep their ridiculous MV style in the transition, they tone down their groups too much. They need to have wacky videos like Psy to get any attention.
that it's catchy and fun?
It's music created for fun first, art (if at all) second.
Dude, it's Gungam Style, not Beethoven, what the fuck?
It's the old Techno snob coming out man, i'm sorry.
