This single-handedly put me off K-pop.

I'm actually shocked at how popular this has gotten, really nice to see something different on the charts. It's ironic that a lot of people I know who would make fun of those who listen to k-pop are now listening to this. I love how just cause everyone else is listening to it now makes it okay. Was hoping this would make people less ignorant, but seems like this is just a one off deal.. not that it's any surprise. Too bad all the good k-pop will still get unnoticed and looked down on for whatever reason.

Expecting a genre of music, in a foreign language, that the majority of the world can't understand to take off and become popular is a little wishful thinking, no? Of course the rest of it will go unnoticed, lol. Why do you care how popular it becomes?

I agree with that considering people can't understand the language. Just saying if people enjoy this music.. video aside, there's other k-pop out there that's just as catchy. So I'd hope some people who are generally adverse to the music will find other k-pop they can enjoy too.. is all I hope for :)

Well the genre is doing pretty well across Asia and Europe.

They started playing Gangnam Style on a local pop hits station.

They stopped shortly thereafter for unbeknownst reasons.

I wish they had, like, international hits stations. Stations that'd play American, UK, Korean, Japanese, etc. hits.

Can you imagine if North Korea opens up now. The first piece of South Korea entertainment they broadcast is OOPA GANGNAM STYLE !!!

omg... hahaha

So I'm waiting in rockefeller waiting for the Zelda thing later tonight, and there happens to be a freaking psy mini concert next door. Chilling on a fence waiting to get a view. He'll be on the today show.

So weird.

Yeah the Today show today is packed.. lots of Asians haha.

Unfortunately most people into music, pop especially, are too lazy to seek out stuff like that. I don't even think understanding the language is all that important to enjoying music. Maybe this will help more of it take off, but It's probably just an example of this song doing all the right things to get the masses interested.
