Sorry, I don't have a source, found it in wallbase.net, it was just a blue version of another wallpaper.

Dear guy with shitty desktop,

why do you have multiple icons of the same file?

Thanks

Been using the same background for a year or so.

Why do we always have to ask for a source? This thread is about showing off your desktop, but providing a source as well.

Nothing too exciting (click for bigger):

I'm using the 'Passed' Bowtie skin and assorted GeekTool scripts.

Source (I don't think there is a bigger version unfortunately)
All this image needs is a tower on the horizon...

Yeah...that's the thing. I don't have the file anywhere on the computer. Is there some way to call it from the desktop or something?

Two new visual styles added to OP:

http://neiio.deviantart.com/art/bAero-261536009

First one is pretty much a rip of the Windows 8 Aero theme, with a bit of tweaks. Expect a million of these to pop up soon.

Anyways got a new computer (netbook), so new screenshot:

Just a question, I really like bAero but it seems like it's incompatible with uxtheme. I tried following the instructions in the Deviant Art link but I wasn't able to replace the system32 files. Can you confirm whether you did the process in the Deviant Art link or just used uxtheme? Thank you.

I don't ever replace the system32 files personally, just use the msstyles theme.

Also I use UXStyle to theme, which is detailed in the OP. And yeah, it works for me.

Haven't done this in a while. Information at bottom of post... Hopefully you use an extension to shrink down larger images since Minus makes thumbnails that are way too small and I don't use Flickr anymore.

Top image is the desktop. OS X Lion. The Dock is hidden for the first time ever in my years of using OS X.

As usual, the information is a combination of GeekTool and a proprietary Bowtie Bowlet.

The icons are created by me from a neat drawing by the same person who did that awesome scary Minecraft image. This is his cute version of MineCraft. I cannot give the icons away as I did not make the image. I can link you to the image and you can use the Developer tools and Icon Composer and PhotoShop to create your own.

The bottom image is a GeekTool overlay I created for Lion Fullscreen apps. When in fullscreen apps, it's hard to see the time. But I love Lion Fullscreen so much so I compromised. When I press four fingers down on my trackpad it runs an AppleScript that tells GeekTool to show the Clock group and calls a second AppleScript in the background that delays for 3 seconds and then tells GeekTool to hide it. Best part is it doesn't get in the way. I can still click stuff behind it.

I don't remember where I found the wallpaper. It might've been from a past desktop thread. I've considered customizing my desktop to a greater extent with links and data, but it would serve little practical purpose. My desktop is almost never visible. The large extent of my time is spent within a browser. And because I almost never see my desktop, there is little reason to improve it aesthetically either, although I do appreciate great looking desktops such as Alucrid's. I'm sure that placing a white, semi-transparent clock and weather forecast somewhere would improve it visually.

How do you change the icon? I just want the icon packs I found for my W7 netbook. I'd do the one above but changing system files is kinda iffy to me.

Anyone else with a custom logon background in Windows 7 have issues with getting it to stick and not change back to the default? Pretty sure I've done the needed registry tweaks, as well as the appropriate adjustments in the group policy editor.

So when I try to install UxStyle I get a "Uh oh, something broke" message and the installer won't run.

The OS is XP, which as far as I've read is compatible.

Can anyone help me out?

What's the Bowtie theme called?

Is there a way I can directly put the image as my background when I view the source of some of these pics? I thought I could just right click and hit 'save as background' or something. I have windows 7 and the only way I can figure it out is save picture as, but that shrinks the images.

I made it myself. It consists of the clock, calendar and music. Nothing else. It's custom formed to my desktop. HTML/JavaScript/CSS. The rest is GeekTool.

Ahhh, thank you. I had been using Chrome then tried it on Firefox and the 'set as desktop background' option was there.
Chrome has an extension for Windows I believe.
