Only got to play about 30 minutes today and I am dying to keep going. I loved the presentation and where the story was heading. I can't wait to marathon this tomorrow.

I was impressed with the image quality of the TV show when streaming. It did not buffer at all and it seemed to be 1080p.

I have fibre internet with around 30mbps down. I think.

The email stuff is awful. There are so many emails lying around, people writing essays for emails detailing every betrayal and secret agenda. Questionable storytelling decisions in this game. The email stuff actually annoys me more than the television show. The TV show isn't great, but whatever.

I wonder if all the Microsoft product placements were a sneaky way of MS using advertising funds from their other divisions to help mitigate the game's development costs

Beat Act 1 and watched Episode 1. I like the idea of the T.V. show, even if it is rough around the edges. I'm enjoying my time with the game so far.

Alan Wake's optional narrative pick ups were perfect - short and completely voice acted, it was like a bed time story. A shame quantum break feels like a step back in its story telling

Yup, and here is the thing the emails and notes are actually very well written as well as crucial to understanding the full story. But, there are just SO many of them it becomes tiring having to find and read through every little interactive note you can find. I came to play a game not read a novel, show don't tell me, please.

You're downloading the game and the show I take it.
I think you're in for a good wait.

I have a 90 Meg connection. Shouldn't be more than 6 hours, right? I mean, I don't want my Xbox to snooze before it's done.

But at 121.3 GB, is this the largest console game at launch ever?

Are the Alan Wake + DLC pre-order bonuses added automatically to your account or codes?

Any kind souls want to part with their code, if it's the latter? I missed the pre-order window and realized I only have American Nightmare digital :(

Our whole point with the emails and all that "optional storytelling" content was to give it as an option to the player. You dont have to read it all. You dont have to find it all. You can go back to the game once you completed it and then find them to get more backstory.

We all play a lot of games here at Remedy and Ithink at least our collectibles are tied to the story and there's a good reason to find them, but you can do so at your own leisure.

I love the emails and other narrative hidden items. The only problem is NPCs are always yelling at you to hurry up when you're taking your time to read them lol.

Please consider adding a fully upgraded NG+ mode for us to play around with and find collectibles afterwards :)

I was kind of frustrated and bored at the beginning of the game, then I got time powers and was like...

In fact, I like the effects and combat so much I get frustrated in down times ;)

And also... That first TV episode was surprisingly good! Expected it to be way cheesier and lower budget (not because Remedy but just because video games).

I'm just starting act IV, but thus far this is easily a step backwards narratively from Max Payne and Alan Wake. I don't know what Remedy is riffing off of this time. Generic Sy-Fy original series'? In the past they've worn their inspirations on their sleeve, but this time I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm stunned by how weak the characters are. Jack Joyce is no Max or Alan or even Mona for that matter. It feels like more of a waste considering you brought in a notable Hollywood actor to bring the character to life. Serene is the most interesting and benefits from the added exposure of being heavily featured in the TV show.

The television stuff is actually super fascinating. I would love for someone at Remedy to explain why they did this. On the one hand it acts as a palette cleanser, of sorts. I play 45-1hr full of combat and minor platforming sequences and then I can relax and watch something, and from that perspective it's kind of interesting, but these side stories are underwhelming and their connection to the narrative you play through feels tangential at best. The TV show feels like a tacit condemnation of video games' ability to handle narrative. "Here's this other story stuff we couldn't figure out how to make work in the medium we're in!"

Many of these characters either barely appear in the game or only do so in emails. When I see their notes in game I don't feel anything beyond "Yeah that's the dope I've been watching in the TV shows." The junction decisions are super binary and from what I've experienced in my play through and seeing others', the changes to the live action stuff aren't substantial, but that isn't a surprise. No one has the time or the money to shoot a TV show 10 different ways.

I enjoy the gameplay a lot. I know Gertsmann complained about not being able to string powers together elegantly, but I don't have that issue. I wish there were more enemy and weapon variety, but outside of that I've been able to make my own fun out of the encounters. It's been a weird experience playing through it. I marvel at it one second and shake my head the next. It's ambitious that's for sure.

Woah since when were you able to use you're screen grabs as wallpapers for the dash, haha just noticed it there while taking one, will be stoping forever now in this game setting up dash wallpapers.

There are too many Alan Wake things in this game.

If Alan Wake 2 doesn't happen in the next 3 years, I'm protesting outside Remedy's office for being the biggest teasers.

Just finished the game. Overall, really enjoyed it, even though some technical issues keep it from a perfect experience.

Actually thought the TV meets game stuff was really good, too. Something I didn't expect to keep me interested.

First I would wonder how successful this game will be for Remedy and Microsoft.

So Just finished the game. I have to say right now it's my GOTY unless something else wows me like this. I haven't had a game really tickle my fancy the way this one has in a very very very very long time. The game isn't perfect though. I'll just list positives and negatives.

Positives:

Pretty much everything. They did bang up job with gameplay, story, graphics, audio design, etc. I really liked the characters too. They certainly weren't one dimensional. That's for sure

Length I felt was right on too. By the time you play a chapter and watch the show the game feels about right in length. I think had it been longer it might have worn out it's welcome.

Negatives:

Last encounter I was not a fan of. Had no clue what to do at all. Finally I ended up looking up how to handle it online. Frustrating. This wasn't the only time lost either. The bridge area as shown off in old demos had one area that I had a hard time figuring out how to get through.

There were like 2 weird stutters on a couple of cutscenes. I have them downloaded too.

I had one lockup with squeal at the beginning of chapter 3 right as I got to combat. Also once when coming back from resume I had no audio and had to restart at checkpoint.

Other then those things I absolutely loved the game. I'm going to be replaying the hell out of it to find everything since I missed a few things here and there. Also I will just to see the differences in the story due to choices. I really really want a sequel too. They certainly set up for possible sequels down the road and didn't tie things up with a bow.

Just finished the game. Really enjoyed it. The story, characters, and even the TV show was all very well done and kept me interested throughout. The only real shortcoming (besides technical issues) is that the gameplay, though fun, never quite reached the levels I was hoping for. I didn't really feel successful at stringing together powers to dispatch enemies quickly and stylishly. Of course I await the inevitable youtube videos showing me how it's supposed to be done ;) Also I felt like there wasn't quite enough variety in enemy encounters and types although the battles leading up to the end were fun. Maybe something like combining combat with a bit of light platforming or non destructive uses of your powers would have been worthwhile.
I remember an early demo where a guy was flipping cars and manipulating stutters to damage enemies. This seemed to have been removed from the game.

Overall it was a fun ride and I'm definitely down for more QB.

Please Remedy if you're listening, this game is amazing but NEEDS a survival mode! There's no way to jump in and enjoy the gameplay is small doses.
