My condolences to the folks across the pond who admired her. She had quite an interesting life, that's for sure. As an American, I can't say that I truly understand the emotional significance of royalty, but I can respect it as a historically and culturally significant institution that provided a sense of pride, identity, and happiness for lots of people. I hope we can all take some inspiration from her accomplishments.

Even if you are enemies with someone, and even if you are forced to kill said enemy, you can feel relief, or determined, or at peace. But if you take enjoyment out of the act, you are a bad human being. It really is that simple.

Pretty much anything mainstream will be fine though, and cover the controversies during her reign (if it seems like there's a lack of them, that's because there simply just weren't that many for 70 years).
