Oh snap! Phone swimming must be going around. My dad did the exact same thing yesterday and went swimming with his iPhone 4s.

I'd suggest getting a burner and waiting for iphone 6.

The only downside to the GS5 is the chrome plastic band around the edge of the phone. It's a bit slippery and it looks kind of tacky. (I have the white S5 and had the black S5). Battery life, screen, camera and responsiveness are all top notch (: I know the 5S is also a great choice, especially if you have smaller hands like me. By the way, the S5 is only advertised as water resistant, not waterproof. So although, as many YouTube videos and my own personal experience has shown, it does work well, I'd still be mindful around water. It's easy to forget to fully press down on the rubber gasket of the back cover. Also, the SD card support on the GS5 is fantastic. I use a 64Gb in mine (:

Yeah I realized that was a mistake, luckily I can return that for free. I'll just get a slim case to protect it from drops, that will help reduce the bulkiness too which is currently my biggest issue with it. Although the small screen option is pretty neat.
yeah, i was gonna suggest that you get a smaller case.

Can I say that this is one of the coolest damn features of the thing? Took it on a kayaking trip last weekend, dove 15 feet into water while taking a selfie vid. Sure you couldn't see a damn thing from the footage but man if the thing doesn't still work perfectly. Only minor niggle is that the water messes with the headphone detection so underwater music playing is a no-go unless you get some kind of headphone jack cover/insert.

The IR blaster is neat too, though the built in samsung smart remote app leaves a bit to be desired in the button placement department.

So is it true that the 5s has NO option for haptic feedback? Because that is awfully close to being a dealbreaker. Haptic feedback helps with texting so, so, much.

According to cursory Google searches they don't. That blows my mind that a phone in 2014 doesn't offer such a basic feature.
