OK, well i wasn't expecting that.

So after really Wanting this game badly i gotta say i am so super happy i rented it and did not buy it. I would have been so very let down if i had bought it.

I was expecting a super scary game and a compelling story that made sense to some degree but was left with an emoty taste in my mouth where something more filling would have been better suited.

now don't get me wrong. some aspects of this game were great. it has some of the better graphics in areas of other 360 titles i have played and when you get the block feature down you end up finding yourself playing with pipes more then guns which can be fun. When all was said and done though the end of the story still made no sense.

why the hell were birds dying again? why was everyone going crazy and killing each other for? were little green men zapping the earth with thier destructo ray making bumbs and birds go wacky and form a death cult? how many innocents did Detective Thomas kill in order to find the serial killer X? who was that damn guy who was suppossedly friends with my father and uncle to serial killer X and why does that have anything to do with SHIT?

if this was a movie it would be straight to DVD because of the story not being tied together well. If you are a horror fan like myself then it's a must rent just because there are at least 2 spots in the game that have jump out and grab ya type scary parts and the twisted darkness of it all should hopefully satisfy our next gen horror needs till something fuller comes along and hopefully has a well thought through story that works with the gameplay.

call me hard but i gotta give this around a 7.5 out of 10 if i had to say anything. not horrid by any means but it gave me a large feeling that it was just incomplete and rushed to be a launch title.

i know most of Gaf loved this game and called it the scariest game ever but it just did not have that freak ya out factor i was so hoping for.

anyone know what is next in store for us as far as next gen scary goodness goes?

You are at the end of the game. I makes pretty much zero difference which one you choose but I personally prefer the one where you show mercy because you get a little bit more of a show. You unlock a different achievement for each choice though (shoot him or not) so its best to replay the last level to get that other achievemnt.

To get the real alternate ending you need to collect all 30 metal pieces.

No its not. Its like an extra 20 seconds of dialog in the ending which doesn't amount to very much at all, there really isn't much 'alternate' about it. Only worth it for the datasheets you get as achievements, but even those aren't written to be clearly understood.

My understanding is that those evil demon things are the reason why people are going insane, and that they're making their move now to start fucking up humanity, driving people to madness by some sort of sonic wave. These waves are causing birds to die, so that's just a side effect. Other than that, the plot isn't clear.
