Quite possibly the most underrated GBA game is...

...Astro Boy: Omega Factor

If you have a GBA, GBA SP, or a DS and you don't have this game, you have done yourself, Sega, and Treasure a great injustice. You should be ashamed.

ASHAMED!!!

I just picked it up for 10$ at Fry's. Played it a bit, seems pretty cool.

I want to get Klonoa 2. I hear it's underrated too.

I have this game, astro boy can't duck or block...........

it makes him quite non-super. Also, he looks like he was designed by a pederast(sp?).

game is fun though. just very very hard.

I wouldn't even begin to call it underrated.

...Mostly because it's all relative and I read gaming forums and blah blah.

But yeah, I should probably get around to this. It's a pity that both GBAs I've owned have had dead-shoulder syndrome. I must be cursed, or carrying these things in your pocket must cause serious damage. Though, 'blowing' on the shoulder buttons actually seems to fix things, oddly enough. Wonder if it'd be a pain to open up.

BTW, what's the US status on Dragonball Advance? I heard the game is actually good!

Omega Factor is not the most underrated but yeah, it is underrated. It's an excellent game, especially on the higher difficulties. It's odd that they send you through the game again, but you get to keep your upgrades, and I didn't mind playing through it again. It's not all that long anyway.

Ninja Five-0 is really underrated as well. Awesome, awesome game and rather hard to find now.

I have no idea on the US Status but the game is very good. Ive played both the Japanese and Euro version and the game is great. Infact I liked it better that astro boy. I dont have any idea why its taking so long to realease here because you know it would sell well.

Shaman King: Master of Spirits and Kim Possible 2: Drakken's Demise are definitely underappreciated, prolly because of their terrible licenses. The first one plays like Castlevania, the other one like Earthworm Jim.

Also, Astro Boy or Ninja Five-0 aren't underrated, they're just not popular.

Pics for your edification:

Among Kim's baroque set of tools are a hookshot and rocketskates

Look, here's an R-Type minigame with health bar

As you can see Konami updated Aria of Sorrow's sprites to the hideous specifications of the Shaman King anime

Shaman King: Master of Spirits.
Master of Spirits is an interesting object lesson: Just because something shares technology with a top-notch game, it is not inherently good. Sure, this has always been obvious with 3D games like those awful BUILD Engine disasters, but it holds true for 2D games too! Shaman King is what you'd get if you broke the balance, controls and overall design of Aria of Sorrow. I'd have enjoyed it in the 8-bit era, but the thought of someone wasting their money on it thinking it's a perfect Aria of Sorrow clone saddens me. Don't believe the lie.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I never said it was perfect. Knowing this I advise you against buying Drakken's Demise, since its design is even more incomplete. Spend your $9 on a nice Arby's dinner instead.

And who else but me has propagated "the lie"? I thought this thread was about underrated/underappreciated games.

Poor Karnaaj Rally. EGM didn't even bother opening the game, they just threw it to Seanbaby. He didn't even play it, he just reviewed the box. A tragically terrible box design there.

Dragon Ball Adventure Advance is a pretty good game...It tells the story of the series in a pretty nice way and the gameplay is fun :) Only flaws are repetitive enemy and bad sound. I enjoyed it more than Astro Boy though.

I would say Lufia: The Ruins of Lore, because I translated it and I think I didn't misspell a single word on it this time.

Thanks to a generally awesome bin of $18.98 (CDN) games at Wal-Mart, I am now the proud owner of AB:OF. It's quite good thus far...but another bargain bin find (Fire Emblem) has me slightly distracted.

As for underrated games, Astro Boy's reviews are too good to be underrated...but, if it still counts, so does Mario Golf: Advance Tour which sold WAY too few copies. Seriously, for any Canadians, there's a whole shitload of copies in those bins at Wal-Mart for $19...hit it already.

Mario Golf is fantastic. Damn. I have a shoebox full of games for the gba that I can basically grab a handful of when I go anywhere for a length of time. The library is amazing. Whenever I think of how dissapointing the GC was as a console, I just look at that box and give the thumbs up to Nintendo.

You guys just made me look up this game, since I have never heard of it... and look what I find! I remeber seeing this boxart in a boxart thread some time ago, and I thought it was a joke one that a Gaffer made up! Imagine my surprise to find it was not only real...but attached to a good game as well!
