I'm hugely into the whole idol thing and it's always FASCINATING to me just hoooow many girls out there are trying to get into it but fail miserably. I don't mean this to sound gloating or anything, quite the contrary actually, it honestly somewhat breaks my heart. Like these girls (a lot of them, anyway) are genuinely trying their very best to fullfill their dream of performing in front of supportive fans (which is something I commend and appreciate them for), and I can't even begin to imagine how devastating it has to be to fail badly. This kinda mindset is even further reinforced if you watch every single idol anime you can get your hands on (Locodol <3).

Obviously this has been going on for decades with chika idols and to some extent "nugu" groups in kpop, but social media made all of this stuff a lot more accessible to international fans. So I regularly now get some idol channel on my YT frontpage from some group that has LESS FOLLOWERS THAN I HAVE HAD. And I'm as far away from being a talented cute asian idol as one can be, and they put A LOT more effort into all of this. The latest one YT pushed on me has 380 subscribers....

And I love YouTube for pushing these. I subscribe to EVERY SINGLE ONE of these idol channels. I watch their videos to increase their CTR, they get like 5-10 comments at most and I always leave one as well. Specifically in english, so the girls can look at the comment and go "wow, we even have international fan(s)!" :D

Obviously I forget about them right away since they don't release anything and fade intostay in obscurity

Some people on reddit came up with the term "nugu saviour complex", which is kinda hilarious in how close it hits to home for me. If I had Elon Musk money, I would rent out Tokyo Dome and have all of these girls perform there just 365 days a year and just pay people to show up and cheer on them.

Take this one for example. That's not the one YT just recommended me, but there's like at least a dozen or so within the last year alone.

You can't tell me you don't feel a bit sad at least for these girls, can you?! I'm glad there's at least an audience (one guy clapping lmao :D), I've genuinely seen worse at stuff like bowling alleys opening and such. And yeah, obviously they're not hugely talented, they're idols. Nothing Sony Money couldn't make up for.

Never been interested in American sports, but if that were to change, I think Baseball is the one I'd go for.
i agree on baseball.

loved rounders in school as a kid. i don't know the difference but it was fun. so i guess baseball.

american football is more like rugby which i don't like.

real football is my favourite sport.

Used to love both rounders and footy at school. Rounders was pretty rare though. I think we only used to play it once or twice in warmer weather.
