She really ruined the public perception of breakdancing for a LOT of people. Imagine trying to be taken seriously and then having her at the fucking Olympics so that the average viewer would be like "this is Olympic level breakdancing? What a shitty pasttime!"

There were other actual pros there, but at that point her memes were blowing up so big that it drowned out any of the talented people that came after her. It's a real shame because I think breaking is a lot of fun to watch when done at a high level.

Yea I'm not sure I can look at breakdancing the same way ever again. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to hear the word again without thinking of this. IIRC they're not doing it in the next Olympics either.

I know, I'm just fucking around. I find the whole thing highly humorous, especially the world rankings.

Apart from the cannoe racing and the gay/trans last supper, she was the best thing at the olympics for me. Made it all worth it.

It's the only thing I watched; by "watched" I mean the endless TikTok videos and memes I saw posted lol

But I do have some good friends into breakdancing (highly competitive) and the whole thing was a bummer for them. But TBH it's not that serious lol
 
Bit of a weird one cause she set out to do the thing and she did it, and became the most famous Olympian this year and the most famous breakdancer of all time.

Every Olympics they have a few spots for stupid ass fringe sports that the organiser can try if they want, I think the US got like American Football, and Lacrosse, and something else on the field, which you can be sure will never make it in 2032.
Breakdancing is kinda big in France, same with French rap, so it probably went well with elitist Paris 2024 committee members (the main guy finished the same school I did, super elitist) thinking they are doing a "gesture" to poor suburbs. It's like the equivalent of rich kids going to build wells in poor countries during their gap year.

It was an exhibition sport. It wasn't cancelled.

I think the only exhibition sport that became a regular part of the Olympics was TKD back in the 90s.
