Rayman Origins E3 Gameplay Demo (Ubi Conference)

Looks awesome, but this is going to be hard as hell like the first Rayman isn't it?

I always hated Rayman as a character but enjoyed the earlier games. This one looks fantastic! I'm surprised they didn't shoehorn Move or Kinect controls in.

I hope so. The unrelenting challenge of the first game is partial what made it so special. On the one hand, you have whimsical, colorful visuals with cartoony flair, and on the other hand, you had brutal, precise platforming at its finest. IMO, it was a beautiful marriage.

They've done it. They have successfully crossed games and art perfectly to create what will now be known as "Gart". It's like immaculate conception.

Was it just me or were they singing the Mario theme in the cave? We need an mp3 rip of that underwater song stat.

Game Informer interview already said they're dumbing down the difficulty for teh kiddie babbiez who complained about the first game.

Wait, what? Where? That's not okay. I don't know how to deal with that.

I love that they've taken some elements from Little Big Planet (slapping eachother around) and New Super Mario Bros (BUBBLE! BUBBBLLLE!!!) This could be a great co-op platformer!

I really can't wait to see more of this game!

I may not have the money for this. But I WILL find money for it! Somehow, someway! I gotta show this industry that these kinds of games are CRUCIAL to the revival of the platforming genre.

Oh well. If an easier gameplay allows for games like Origins to be made, than so be it. This game just looks unbelievable in every regard.

Stunning!

I've been praying for a 2D Rayman since 95 (2 & 3 were good, but I wanted the 2D back) and here it is at last and I'm speachless : It looks incredible (better than 99% of all those super-production with gazillions of budget), it seems to be a "root" platformer, with a real challenge and tricks and the humor is great and would certainly fit for adults and children alike.

Oh, and did I mention the art-style? Gawd!

I thought what they said was that it would be accessible to the non-hardcore, but there would be plenty of challenge for those who want it.

This game saved the lacklustre first day of E3 for me. Hope to see more in this vein in the coming days, but I know I probably will not.

Looks beautiful and really fun to play. Ancel's enthusiasm for this game is infectious. It's impossible to hate this game. :)

Definitely one of the standouts at E3 for me.

Game of the E3 for me for now.Michel Ancel is so awesome.

Hear our prayers Ubi Soft : we need more Ancel's game, stop with the Rabbids, more Rayman and BG&E 2 now! Or even better, a new IP?

As of today, only two of Ubi's production center are worthy of interest (imho) : the Ass (Creed) team, which continues to amaze me with their titles (although this might end-up as a milking factory at this pace) and Ancel's tiny Montpellier team.

What games make you use motion controls to jump?
Blissfully, none (well, none that I've played), hence the 'unnecessary' part.

/edit: just re read my post above. I didn't mean to be so broadly dismissive of motion control! That was not my intention.

Jesus, that looks insanely inspired. Definitely one of the most impressive things I've seen this year. Just oozing with fun and creativity. Plus you have some of the best visuals I've ever seen coupled with creative sound design.

It has that spark of originality that so many attempts at 2D platforming these days have lacked. I mean, stuff like New Super Mario Bros Wii and Sonic 4 just felt so flat and empty. They lacked the spark that made the originals so great and didn't really deliver their own flavor. They felt like lifeless CG remakes.

This is the real deal! Michel Ancel never fails to disappoint!
