Razer's new keyboard is basically cheating

$180 is.........a lot.

That is... pretty gross. But I guess it's only a matter of time before everyone else starts doing it and this becomes "normal". Well, maybe...

Same here. Their stuff is expensive, but I've always found quality to be excellent.
Ditto. They're the only "gaming" brand that I've purchased from as their products last a long while.

Competetive is dead for me.
Played only competetive games for All my life. But cheating and the acceptance of it has killed my enjoyment of it.

In wow classic they introduced pay to win, on top of a sub and next to nobody bat an eye. Lol. Blizzard said its to counteract goldseller ...
Just ban a few thousend players that buy Gold and people will slow down on buying pretty fast. But they dont care for their integritiy of their game enough to not get the Sub money of cheaters.

To clarify, they just stopped categorizing Gold buyers as cheaters. By alowing them to buy Gold directly

When i was young and played my games that was considered a Form of cheating, now its ok.

It's up there, but seeing at what the keyboard can do and vs other good mechanical keyboards, I don't feel like it's really that steep.

Yeah....for competitive gamers I'm betting it is an easy purchase considering what it can do.

Looks like an advantage for counter-strafing in CS but the Overwatch example isn't a big deal. Strafing like that isn't going to make you a better player.

The last input being active may also take some getting used to for those who are used to two directions canceling out.

Leverless controllers for fighting games also have this functionality, which Capcom has banned for Capcom Cup but who's really regulating that? It's not going to win you matches vs players you wouldn't be able to beat otherwise.

I think it's a stretch to call this cheating. Wouldn't be surprised if the majority of higher end gaming keyboards have this functionality soon. Kind of sucks for CS though.

These stupid hardware companies are going to murder multiplayer gaming lmao.
I don't see anything wrong with having better hardware. It's just like buying an LCD instead of a CRT back when Counter-Strike came out, some would cry that you were cheating but hey, more money, more resources, better equipment, better gaming experience. It's all what PC gaming is about, it's not about leveling the field but giving the advantage to the one who can spend more money.

It's like those monitors with built in AI wallhacks. These stupid hardware companies are going to murder multiplayer gaming lmao.
I was going to grab one of those AI monitors to see what it does in person but talking to an MSI rep they decided to "tone down" what it can do after backlash

My question is since that AI will be on board how long will it be before people hack that monitor and reenable that crap or even take it to another level?

It's not "better hardware", in that here is a monitor that has more pixels, and the game engine can support more pixels. It's using software made by the hardware manufacturers to do things that were never intended to be done by the game designers, and stuff that in the past was done using external and banned hacks. Like, again, the monitor with the wallhack. Like what is stopping Razer from making a mouse with "AI aim assist" that gives the buyer an aimbot? The answer is, absolutely nothing.

Once you put a chip in the monitor that can do these overlays, then yea, it's all over.

This is actually really cool. I'm kinda surprised it took so long for someone to implement it.

It's "cheating" only in the sense that it gives you an advantage over gamers that aren't using this kind of keyboard. But couldn't you say the same about having a lower ping, or lower latency display, or better mouse, or a zillion other things?

I hope this becomes a standard quickly so it levels the playing field.

Yes you can say something different, try to aim when everybody can do goofy ultra level moves that don't allow you to get a shot in. That's fundamentally different from an almost imperceptible lower ping or latency.

The other thing is, if stuff like this proliferates, it completely fucks with crossplay numbers, if I'm a Playstation or Xbox owner and we're playing say.. Overwatch 2 or whatever.. Why would I enable crossplay when I'm primarily trying to relax after a long day at work?

I'm assuming the keyboard lets you limit this functionality to certain keys? Considering how many other abilities actually require input overlap (even something as simple as moving diagonally), having this on all keys would be a nightmare.

It makes it so you immediately release one key when another is pressed. I'd put this squarely in the category of "designing a better controller" and not "finding some unethical way to cheat the system".

If this fucks with the game's logic and lets you move in ways they didn't intend, then they need to update the game's logic.

And mouse/keyboard already gives you a big advantage over a gamepad so I don't see how this is any different.

My Razer stuff have lasted for years without any issues

Same here. Their stuff is expensive, but I've always found quality to be excellent.

Mine aswell, I have still got a Deathadder mouse from around 2010 and keyboard headset thats lasted years. I think some people expect to swing those fuckers about and lob headsets against the wall and it still to work.

As for this keyboard I think we will see more and more stuff like this, im just glad im not serious playing online anymore.
