RDNA3 rumor discussion

I tried hard to keep my hype low but damn why did I expect something somewhat impressive...heres hoping pricing saves the day.

On twitter, Videocardz is saying:
  • 7900 XTX - $999
  • 7900 XT - $899
So far the cards seem cool. That raytracing performance lookin' sketchy though.

I am thinking once FSR gets bigger on consoles, it will get perfected.
Right now it is getting there. On steam deck it is fantastic in supporting games

If someone wanted 8K they wouldn't buy a "monitor" as you'd never be able to see that level of pixel density. You'd have to use a 55" 8K TV as a monitor, which are like 2-3 grand, but they're probably all Samsung which often have terrible pentile/dithering artifacts (making them terrible monitors).

That RX feature is pretty much AMD's answer to Nvidia Reflex, once again it's Open Source, so that's another feature cloned.

The kind of person buying a PC that can push 8K gaming is probably also the kind of guy that can afford whatever display he wants.
 
The $899 card is there to push you to the $999 one...lol

I had 8k a year ago, what they don't tell you is that 8k increases latency/input lag. Your lightening quick 1ms @4k raises to a noticeable delay once you go 8k. Image quality is amazing though. Like moving from 1440p to 4k.

People told me that I wouldn't' be able to see the difference between 1440p and 4k on a monitor, but I can tell the difference fairly easily.

I WAS gonna get the XT, but F THAT!. Imma get that XTX as soon as it goes on sale!

The 6900 XT cost $999

The respective upgrade is $100 cheaper at $899

The price gap between the two is bizarre but $999 for the 7900 XTX seems like a steal to me.

Big ass difference between 1440p and 8K my guy, big ass difference. A 10x difference to be precise, around 3.5 million Vs. 33 million pixels.

So Amd's best offering cant even surpass a 3090 in RT performance...man even Intel were much better on their first attempt in regards to RT. That was depressing, was hoping for some competition to shake up Nvidia but well onto the next generation hype/bust cycle.
 
I wrote it in the other thread.
The 7900 xtx is only clocked 2.3 which is nothing you will get from other makers cards which will be 2.8. or 3GH with such clicks 4090 will get destroyed.The 7900xtx is 1.7 more performance than the top card 6950 at 2 times performance it would be more powerful than 4090 for.At speeds over 2.6 the 7900 will beat 4090 easily the smaller brother will best 4090 at 2.8-3

The real question is : will the 7900xtx/xt beat a 3090 that much to justify going for it.

RT will prob still be faster on the 3090, but rasterization will be slower. But by how much...

3090 is Radeon 6950 territory.

Not in RT - Itll touch the 3xxx series, maybe at best.

That was my ultimate point - how much faster will it be compared to a 3090. If the difference isn't that much, some will choose the 3090 for the RT performance.

We need raw numbers.

Based on the FPS data provided by AMD, the 7900 XTX should match or beat the 3090 Ti in RT.

RE Village 4K RT
7900 XTX - 138 FPS
3090 Ti - 102 FPS

Doom Eternal 4K RT
7900 XTX - 135 FPS
3090 Ti - 128 FPS

Of course we'll have to wait for actual benchmarks but those FPS figures are from AMD. The 3090 Ti figures taken from a review.

For Resident Evil Village DXR, RX 6950 XT Nitro+ has 93 fps. A 1.5X scale may have 139.5 fps.

RTX 4090 FE has 190 fps.

RX 7900 XTX's $999 price is good from lesser GPU cards such as RX 6950 XT, baseline RTX 3080, and lesser GPUs. As RTX 3080 Ti AIB OC owner (MSI Trio GX), I would wait for RTX 4080 Ti.
