Lamb Of God!!!!!! damn it
If you're looking for music to make you want to put your fist through the wall, you'll probably never find a better band. Elements of Hardcore, Death Metal, but not really sounding like either. Great band.
Another band that is worth a shot(and I've mentioned about a million times before) is Pain of Salvation. Not gonna go into why they're so great(do a search for a previous post of mine about them, most recent was in Lemurnator's metal thread) but PoS(gotta love the acronym) is a band that takes some considerable time to digest completely. They're probably NOT going to grab you on the first few listens. If you're interested though, I HIGHLY reccomend starting out on Perfect Element Pt.1, as that's the closest album they have to being "accessible". They have some full songs on their website for download(although they seem to skip a bit)...
www.painofsalvation.com.
Other great choices are...
Nevermore (great great plain old metal band, not really any screaming but they are HEAVY as hell no matter)
Children of Bodom (some find the singer unbearable, I think he's great but he takes some getting used to...the music though is so energetic, heavy, complicated, and melodic. it's fantastic)
Lamb of God(as already mentioned, great band, one of the few great metal acts actually gaining notoriety now)
As for the less heavy...
Porcupine Tree. great, melodic rock band. really really really good band, I'm not great at describing bands of this type though
Katatonia. The closest thing to emo I listen to, and one of my absolute favorite bands. their newer stuff is their best. I think "Last Fair Deal Gone Down" is one of the most emotionally moving albums ever written. Their latest, "Viva Emptiness" is great too, but not auite as spectacular to these ears. DEFINITELY check this band out, based on what you listen to now. If the intro to "disposession" doesn't hook you right away, then you have no pulse.
www.katatonia.com they have some samples there. their singer improved drastically on "Last Fair Deal Gone Down" though, and I feel that and their most recent cd are their best by far.
I may be back with more reccomendations later, but I have to head out for now. Happy listening, and make SURE to check out Katatonia, as I think you would like them alot.
